No one will chance you without the SAT. Sorry.

@patriot420 I took a few practice SATs (not the PSAT) and got around 2100.

You are a good student. Impossible to chance without your SAT scores. What is your intended major?

EC list is overwhelming. Unclear to me where your focus and true interests are.

Well like I said before, I took a few practice SATs and got around 2100 each time. Intended major is probably an engineering major but I would like to take some french classes/minor in french because I adore it. Well, I love to help people so that’s why I’m in so many community service activities and I love the science field so that explains medical club and Science national honors society. I also love music so I’d love to join an acapella group in college. @sgopal2

@xxttnxx: look at it from the point of an admissions officer. If I were one (and I’m not), I would be trying to fit you into one of the neat little buckets that my Dean asked me to fill up for next year’s class. Where among these buckets do you fit? I need XX number of athletes, XX legacy, XX development, XX art majors, XX engineers, XX pre-meds, XX history, XX economics. You get the point.

So when looking through your mish-mosh list of ECs, I see interest all over the place: french, engineering, community service, music, religion. What bucket are you?? Is there a bucket labelled “engineers who love french, dabble in community service, play 3 instruments, who are regular church goers and might be interested in med school”?? NO

Now if you had told me that your lifelong plan was to move to france and become an engineer for Airbus, and that in your spare time you want to start your own band, this makes perfect sense. Its all about how you frame yourself, and the way you have painted the picture above will make it very difficult for someone else to connect the dots.

Good luck

Yea you’ll probably get in

You have a good chance of getting into UVa, but your ECs are a little overwhelming-which isn’t a bad thing! When you make your resume, it’s good to have 3/4 themes that show unity and focus in your interests, otherwise, it distracts. Quality over quantity. Limit yourself down to a couple that you were the strongest in and solidify your position/dedication to those. I don’t think being Asian counts as a federally designated minority group either. We’re usually pretty well represented in colleges (they’re usually referring to African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, etc.)
Chance me back? :slight_smile:

@adamyorke @anzhilin This was posted a year ago…

Oh. I didn’t even notice that! It was on the top of the forum so I commented without looking at the date. Sorry about that!

No score, no chance.
