I was hoping someone could tell me if it is worth a shot applying to UVA. I know I don’t fit in to their average but I am really hoping to get accepted there. I have a 1970 on my SATs and a 3.5 GPA. I play a varsity sport, partake in a couple of volunteer and academic clubs, and I wrote great essays for the prompt questions. Is it worth the $70 to apply?
Depends how much the $70 means to you, but probably not.
If you are out of state (or in state and from Northern Virginia) (and are not a recruitable athlete in an important sport/similar hook), definitely not worth it.
If you are in state and from a rural part of the state? it’s not impossible, but unlikely: your SATs are at the low end of the middle 50% of scores, but 96% of admitted students have a GPA of 3.75 or better.
i would say no… (unless there’s something on your app that makes you special) Are you in-state?
