University of Washington Seattle - Fall 2022 Admission

You can appeal the decision. My daughter had a friend who did so for CS last year and ended getting in. I know it required a teacher recommendation.

What major? Some you have to apply to as a sophomore.

You cannot apply to neuroscience as an incoming freshman because you have to take Bio 180, 200 and 220 before you apply. That’s why your son was admitted pre sciences.

Ah, good to know. Thanks!

Wow, exact same for our D22. She is not very happy with the pre-science given direct admit to other neuroscience programs (although newer and less regarded). Will make for a tough decision considering more scholarship offered everywhere else and no guarantee of a neuro degree at UW. Still proud wherever she decides!

My D22 is leaning against UW based on not getting direct admit. The UW website says not to be discouraged because most students are admitted pre-major outside of CS/Engineering. But honestly, even if that is true, my D22 feels like it creates constant pressure to compete against classmates to prove oneself over and over (and she just did that to be admitted in the first place).

She thinks now she would rather go to a school that has already given her a large scholarship, admission to Honors College, and admission to major and maybe look at UW again for grad school. At least that’s where her thinking is tonight.

My D22 applied neuroscience and was admitted prescience too. Someone above said they were direct admit to neuroscience. The US website says a “very small” number can be direct admit. just makes me nervous for D22 to accept without direct admit.

My daughter has only heard from two of the schools she applied to. She did RD and no rolling admissions schools. all the other schools are private schools. I feel like the private schools don’t do the whole “direct admission” not direct admission thing, unless I am missing something,

The other acceptance so far was UConn and she was admitted as physiology and neurobiology major with a scholarship that was 8 times more than the one from UWash.

was it pre-social sciences or pre-political science?
