University of Washington

Hey guys,

I'm an Indian American (born & raised in WA state).

UW is my top choice for college, but I'm not sure if I'll get in.

My GPA is a 3.48 (ugh)
SAT: 1980 (CR 670, M 730, W 580) Don't know how I messed up writing that bad, I got a 650 last time
Superscore would be 2050 with the 650 in Writing.
I've taken 3 honors classes in 9th, 2 pre-AP classes in 10th, 3 AP classes in 11th, and now I'm taking 3 again this year.
I played JV soccer last year (Getting into varsity is highly competitive at my school)

I want to get into Foster's for BA, and I was accepted into the YEOC program, which had about a 50%ish accept. rate

I've always been wondering if this would be worth mentioning in the "additional comments" section of the application: My whole life I've lived with a bipolar parent, and studying daily is tough, but I feel like UW admission officers would think I'm just trying to make excuses up.

What do you think my chances are?

Also forgot to mention that I’m VP of one of the state’s largest FBLA chapters

Is the GPA unweighted? If so, it won’t be that hard to get in.(like 50/50)

Also, how serious your parents’ bipolar disorders? You can ask your GC to talk about it like this: the student, despite the disturbing environment that is more than mere hindrances, worked very hard to accomplish what he has now.

Yeah it’s unweighted

bump

bump

BUMP

While your GPA is pretty low, I think it will be made up for with your SAT scores. Although I hear it’s getting harder and harder for in-state admissions. I’m applying there now with a 3.8 GPA and a 1720 SAT. I’m not quite sure how accurate my input is though, because I’ve mostly gotten information about my chances as an OOS student.

Wow this was a long time ago. Glad to say I got in.
