How competitive in UW-Seattle. I have an UWGPA of 3.8 and a WGPA of 4.63.
Will have total of 10 APs by the time I graduate.
My ACT score should be around a 29-31. (I just took it). I’m a junior.
I want to major in Chemistry and Premed.
How hard it is to get in and how competitive is the premed program.
I’ve heard the premed program at University of Washington is highly competitive do gain admission to, but I’m no expert on the college so definitely see what others say.
University of Washington doesn’t take your major choice into consideration in the College of Arts and Sciences, only in the engineering program I believe. I think you definitely have a shot at getting in at this rate, given that their acceptance rate is 55%. Are you in-state or OOS?
Here is some information that may help you assess your chances:
Washington’s Common Data Set reports the unweighted GPA of enrolled freshmen in 2016 as follows:
3.75 to 4.00: 65.40%
3.50 to 3.74: 25.96%
3.25 to 3.49: 6.20%
3.00 to 3.24: 1.89%
Under 3.00: 0.55%
Average unweighted HS GPA for enrolled freshmen in 2016 was 3.78. Middle 50% ACT of enrolled freshmen in 2016 was 26-32. Thus, your unweighted GPA and projected ACT are right around the average for enrolled freshmen.
The admission rate in 2016 was 45% (WA residents: 62:9%; OOS: 43.3%; international: 29.9%).
Good luck!
I am an OOS student
@Avancer their admission rate went down to 45% for 2016.
^ Down from 53% in 2015.
Freshman applications increased from 31,605 in 2014, to 36,838 in 2015, to 43,516 in 2016. I do not think they have published numbers for 2017 yet.
