University Recommendations?

Hi everyone
I’m a high school junior who’s having a hard time deciding on universities to apply to, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Stats:
SAT: taking in a month; expect around 1450
SAT II: Planning to take Math II and Physics
GPA: 94/100
APs: French and Statistics this year (aiming for at least a 4). Next year, I plan to take AP Calc BC, Bio, and Chem.

ECs:
-President of Computer Council (takes care of school technology; have raised a few hundred dollars for charity)
-Robotics team (2 years; won city championships)
-Volunteered at a hospital (~200 hours)
-Math tutor
-Prefect

No major awards (I’ve always placed top 25% in the Waterloo math contests, if that counts for anything? haha)

School type: Public
Race/Gender: Asian F
Prospective Major: Engineering

It should probably be noted that I’m living in Canada right now, although I am a US citizen. I’d like to apply to universities from both countries to expand my horizons a bit :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks!!

oh forgot to add that I qualify for financial aid. & bump!

Damn your life is going to be hell if you’re planning on taking AP Chem and AP Bio in the same year :))

Since you live in canada, you won’t get in-state tuition/acceptance rate benefits, so that’s a con. I would suggest JMU, VT, Purdue, Penn State, or Drexel. All great schools with pretty high acceptance rates. I presume you have some “dream”/reach schools that you would like to attend, so apply to those as well.

Don’t know much about Canadian universities.

hahahha next year will be pretty stressful indeed :((
Thanks for the tips and recs though! btw, I’m looking the suggested schools up and they do have very high acceptance rates :open_mouth:

McGill and Toronto

No problem! Forgot to mention that one unique thing about Drexel is their co-op program, which is essentially a work-study in your major, and are also often paid ones at that. It’s really interesting, and definitely a great safety school if your grades/scores are high.

@ClarinetDad16 haha of course, the most prestigious Canadian universities. I’m going to give them a go :)>-
@sona7662 ah cool, thanks again! actually sounds really similar to Waterloo’s co-op program up here in Canada

I would definitely recommend Penn State as a good match/safety school, and I also highly recommend Drexel for engineering  It’s where my mom went and she loved it!

I would recommend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as well for a good match/ safety. It has a good reputation for engineering on the west coast and its in California, because of that it has strong ties with Silicon Valley

If you are a dual citizen Canadian universities would make financial sense unless you are aiming for top 20 US schools.

How much can you afford? Drexel is going to be close to $70K per year, and only going up. I think you can get a similar education at a much more affordable school. I recommend looking into Virginia Tech, University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas, Penn State, University of Maryland, University of Michigan and Ohio State. Of course, I recommend finding some reach schools and I don’t know much about Canadian universities, but I think the ones I listed are good fits for you.

A bit late, but thank you everyone for all the recs
I’ll definitely look into costs (for both Canadian and US unis) more
