@Community2605 - well said! Academic achievements at the state or national level deserve just as much recognition as athletic ones. Our BOE loves to have winning teams to their meetings to congratulate them, but have never invited NMFs or AP Scholars. Not even a mention in the paper for our NMSF and Commended student, though I can tell you every point ever scored by any athlete on any team.
Illinois…letter in Mailbox this morning!
@goinggoing The individual letter from NMSC?
My DD just sent me a text with a picture of the list of two finalists from her school and she’s one of them! It was posted on the school’s web site along with a letter of congratulations from the superintendent. YAY!
Congratulations @NTexDad!
@GoAskDad have you heard anything yet? Those cookies must be disappearing at an even more rapid rate.
That darn day job, and all of these recent posts, has completely messed with the “states remaining” updates. If we hear from a few more in the northeast though, I think we can assume they have pretty much made it to their collective destinations. Now, if only those principals would open their mail, and let the true honorees in on the secret.
Best wishes to all waiting, and I see even the student letters have started arriving (no student letter here in PA yet, but I can wait a day or two for that.)
Oh, and lest @GoAskDad thinks getting the news means the end of the eating, let’s just say I bought myself a celebratory lunch on the way home from work, .
Finally got my certificate. The principal got it Tuesday and just didn’t feel like informing me.
@glittervine, my daughter’s principal acted the same way about her NMSF status in the fall. We had to find out via a newspaper that posted the state semifinalists. The principal told my daughter on Tuesday, but she had had the document for several days.
No student letter here in NJ.
Finally got an email from GC confirming that S is a finalist. Boy…is this an unnecessarily long and drawn out process or what!?!
Congratulations @glittervine and @Felicita!!!
Heard from my mom that I got a letter today saying I made NMF. I thought results were coming out in March or April so was kind of surprised. LOL. Like some others here, our school doesn’t make a big deal of it. I think about 30 kids or so will make NMF. I doubt it will make the paper, either. Academic accomplishments rarely do. Sports on the other hand… Anyway, congrats to everyone who made the cut!
Just back from the mailbox. Still no letter in NH…
No letter in Texas yet, and I’m hearing crickets from the high school.
Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp.
Verbal confirmation in FL for DS - thrilled, and so excited. Certificates came yesterday to school. Wow - what a waiting game! Congratulations to all!
Going a tiny bit nuts here in CA for my daughter. no word at all. the thing is that she has to send mid-February updates to a couple of her schools that are due Feb. 15–gives us today and one more day to get notice for her to include that news. She’s a good candidate, 4.6 weighted GPA, almost all As (one B one semester), 2330 on SATs, has won many awards and a research grant, lotsa leadership stuff. I guess getting this or not getting this won’t be any deciding factor at top schools, but it would be nice to be able to add it.
But meanwhile, I know she has lots of equally impressive company out there, and I know how hard you’ve all worked to get there. Congratulations to all of you who won–and to those who didn’t. You reached a really impressive level and believe me you’ll have a wonderful, successful life with all that you have achieved. This doesn’t change that fact in any way.
Still nothing in FL…how annoying. For those that got their individual letters, what part of FL are you in?
Congrats @glittervine @Felicita @baroquemom @MathGuy999 @Journey2015 @isaelijohjac @NTexDad @goinggoing @s9a9i9 @4blessings @mommyrocks @mmfrymire and @canes19 and whoever else I might have missed! What a relief! But hoping for others to get their results today also!
Guidance Counselor notification in DE school.
Also - NMSC told me that students NOT advancing got a letter of rejection ALONG WITH their schools. So, if you have not heard anything along that line from school or January rejection letter, you can probably exhale. The waiting is awfull
