Anyone in Texas receive finalist letter yet? No word from school and no letter as of today’s mail.
Our mailman routinely delivers our mail to others who need it more than we do. He also routinely hides our most important mail in a Lands End catalogue, which we recycle without opening. So @aggiemom3, there may or may not be a letter here.
@aggiemom3 - We still haven’t gotten the letter in the mail. My daughter got a notification from the school’s twitter account congratulating the finalists which included a link to the district’s website that listed the finalists at all five high schools in the district.
Nothing in our little corner of FL.
Just got the letter in the mail saying I am a finalist! (I am in IL, about 30 minutes from the NMS Offices lol)
Yes, @albert69, the Student letter. And we’re about the same distance away as @4everEpical. We’re also at the beginning of the alphabet. And, no, no plumage was attached!
Has anyone from Massachusetts gotten any notification at all? We have heard nothing from our school, and the student letter didn’t come in the mail today. Tomorrow is the last day of school before February break starts, so we may not get word until February 23rd when school resumes. We can hope to get the student letter, but mail delivery has been spotty here in the Boston area.
Nothing in Spring, TX yet.
GC called to confirm DC’s NMF certificate arrived and handed to her by Principal yesterday afternoon in OH.
Nada in the mail or from the school in CO.
So much gratitude. Scholarship so beneficial for our family. Cancer and also Major Illness for other parent. Still praying for those still waiting.
@fifimommy I am so sorry for the hardship you are facing. Best wishes and congratulations on the notification.
No news here in suburban Fort Worth, Texas.
OK, People…I am back on the thread! That pesky little thing called “my job” required me to actually go in to the office today, which everyone involved likes to avoid at all costs.
First & Foremost, congratulations to our latest NMFs! @PAMom21, do we now count your DS among them?!! I think that’s what I’m reading here. Fantastic news! @Felicita from the Parents of HS Class of 2015, congratulations, too! And @fifmommy, I’m very happy for your good news. We haven’t known that level of hardship here, but I do know it’s difficult to save for college (or anything else) when medical bills start to pile up. “Gratitude” is a word I’ll use, too, IF we ever get word about DS’s advancing.
To that end, I’ve gone through today’s posts quickly, but whoever said that NMSC would also notify the school if the student did not advance - that’s very good info for me! I didn’t get that tidbit of info when I called NMSC a few weeks ago to beg…er…ask for information. However, DS’s school has previously told me that they can’t release any info, either way, until all information is approved to release…or something like that. Basically, they’ve previously told me that they can’t discuss it until the time comes. I’m with @Barfly who said: “Our mailman routinely delivers our mail to others who need it more than we do” - so I was really counting on the school to give me a heads-up if they knew anything less than positive.
So, on that happy note, it’s time to set aside the Girl Scout Cookies, everyone.
I Am Officially Opening The Bar.
Our student posters, including @albert69 have a special side area where non-alcoholic beverages will be served. I actually don’t drink, so I’ll go supervise the young people over there. The rest of you…drink up! It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, including here in Kansas City! Let us toast to everyone who made it thus far…and drinks are On The House for anyone who’s still waiting!
S received his snail mail letter today, too.
Southeastern PA here … no letter yet! Grrr!!! Our high school won’t tell us. I had to beg and plead to have them announce when my daughter became a semifinalist. As someone else posted on here, they are always bragging about their athletes and never about the academic achievers.
@GoAskDad I am actually going “out” for a night on the town… well, actually just to a extracurricular meeting. Have fun, everybody!
NOTHING in the mail. No WORDS from DD or her school.
My son was finally told he is definitely a finalist in Northeast Fl. He is going to UCF! He loved the campus, great program and the scholarship is fabulous.
So happy for you! very very happy!
