****UNOFFICIAL Class of 2015 National Merit Finalist Thread****

I scored a 215 (NMSF), but I only took the ACT and didn’t feel like taking the SAT so I gave up the scholarship.

CONGRATULATIONS, @GoAskDad!!!

I’ve been following this thread for days, but this is my first comment. Am I right – no one from NY has reported hearing from their school or getting letter? Very frustrating & how is this possible if school letters were mailed 2/2? I’ve heard of snail mail, but this is ridiculous.

No word here at large school district north of Dallas. DD did mention that last year the school had a big banner with names of all NMF. Nice that they recognize academic achievement. Each year the NMSF are posted on the school website and on the digital local paper.

Congrats to all who have heard! I’m wondering if the school is waiting till after the grading period is over next week…

Congratulations @GoAskDad‌ and @forian and @lamabigbug and @DiWantsToTravel‌ !!! Watching and waiting op for others to join the happy dance! We Had a mini-party last night with cake and balloons!

@goaskdad I actually logged on this morning just to see if you heard. I am so happy for you, your son, and your family!

@goaskdad Congratulations! I know this means so much to you!! Will this be used for a full ride for your son?

My son was congratulated by the principal upon walking into the school this morning. NMF in New Jersey.

@GoAskDad - Excellent! Congrats to your DS (and you)!!

@ljmr77‌ --I’m in NY, and nothing here. For SF they only mentioned it in the school newsletter, anyway, so I don’t know if they’ll bother doing anything else this time. There were only three SFs this year; it seems to vary. Last year 5, I think. There has been as few as one.

Woo hoo for more notifications! Let’s hope Friday the 13th is a lucky day for those still waiting. @GoAskDad does DS know where he is attending this fall yet? I see we are just 4 hrs straight north of you.

More congrats to everyone!

Just received text from daughter at school…she received her certificate! We are in Massachusetts.

Received news from his guidance counselor yesterday. Son is a finalist in NY.

Here in Huntsville (AL) I got the news yesterday I got NMF!

STILL waiting in KY. Sigh.

@goaskdad that news is fantastic! Your son is a gem for waiting to get home to see your expression. We’ve been told via email but are just waiting to have the dang certificate in hand in Nevada. I’m feeling grateful, proud, and relieved nonetheless. Cheers with happy coffee to more announcements today.

For those of you still waiting, know that it took until yesterday for my daughter to receive her letter, and we live less than two miles from the NMSC and share the same five digit zip code.

@ildad811 - that is so ridiculous. You could have driven there an picked it up.

Just got good word in VA! No letter yet, but posted on the school’s website. VERY NICE.

Was on pins and needles since S had 3 Cs. One each freshman, sophomore, and junior year. Also medium GPA (3.5 UW, 3.75 W). But excellent PSAT (230) with matching SAT (800V), IB, and Very Good ECs.

So I’m guessing the Finalist review does take more into account than GPA and number of Cs as some have suggested.

Hoping that NMF status will give a slight boost to \upcoming admission decisions. More pins and needles…

Congratulations! I’m going to be very frustrated if my school got letter yesterday & did nothing because school is now closed until Tuesday. I guess I have to hope the letters to the students aren’t as slow to arrive. School was lousy about notifying NMSF so I shouldn’t be surprised – I found out first after an upstate reporter kindly posted the entire NY list online & then had to hound the school for 2-3 days before they finally gave the notification to my daughter. I know others had similar experiences, but it’s pretty unconscionable, considering the kids had a deadline to get in paperwork etc., for NMF.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY @GoAskDad! I could not be more thrilled for you! This made my day.

And congratulations to everyone else finally getting the good news!
