Girlfriend and I just got our matching NMF letters on Valentine’s Day here in Michigan!

Mail came for us, still nothing. 
Looks like we’re waiting until Monday or Tuesday depending on weather. No mail on Monday and chance of snow day as well.

Hey everybody, I just got MY letter from NMSC congratulating me on becoming a Finalist. Hooray!
DS received his Finalist letter today in South Florida!
Found out via USPS today that our son is a finalist. We are here in Southeastern VA. I was expecting to hear from the school first. We had 3 semi-finalists, but as of yesterday the GC had not seen any mail come through. Congratulations to all of you who made it to not only finalist, but also to the semi-finalist phase. Be proud and best of luck to you all on your future endeavors. I expect great things from ALL of you, no pressure! And I just have to add, the whole waiting game should be considered “cruel and unusual punishment”.

We finally received the official notice in our mail today in CO!! Both sons are finalists. For future reference: one son had 2 semester C’s in AP Calc. The other son had one C freshman year in Adv. Physical Science. When I read all of the past posts of those with one C or more not making it, I was convinced that neither boy did!!

The letter finally arrived here as well! A classmate got his yesterday, so I was hopeful it would be in today’s mail.
This next phase is non-stress for us. He’s narrowed his college choices down to two, and both offer NM scholarships, so we know he will be a National Merit Scholar. All he has to do now is notify NMSC of his college choice by the deadline and…… OH NO! What if he misses the deadline! Time to start stressing!

@Barfly, then there’s the housing deposit deadline…
@kmywest, A&M and OU are the top two. He had some football options, but has decided against playing college sports. A difficult by wise decision, I believe.
@DiffMom, already made the housing deposit to his first choice school, and it is mostly refundable. We did not make a deposit at the 2nd choice school because housing is guaranteed to NMFs. Years ago, however, S1 made a deposit at 2 schools to save housing, then shortly after that notified one school he would not be attending. But then he got assigned housing and was contacted by his “roommate”. Oh, so awkward! The university still didn’t have it straightened out when school started, so the poor kid didn’t have a roommate at first. We always felt badly that the poor boy may have ended up with the kid no one wanted to room with a week after school started.
Letter arrived on NE Ohio today DD is NMF officially… A very happy V day here !

For future tracking purposes, our school received their letter on Wednesday 2/11. We got the letter at our house today Saturday 2/14.
My son got his letter yesterday in Massachusetts, but still no word from our high school. He was the only NMSF at our school. 227 PSAT, 2370 SAT, GPA 3.99. So excited to get it - he’s been accepted to UChicago, and strongly considering it. They offer a $4K annual scholarship to NMFs.
Letter received today in Northern California, but never received anything from the school (50+ NMSFs) Are we supposed to receive a certificate or something?
