justaphase what program did you apply to? I think my letter is coming today too. I'm so nervous.

I applied for marketing at stern

I applied to CAS for econ and our stats are really similar so I'm hopeful.

edit: I'm sure it's a much easier program than what you appied for.

checked the mail - not rejected yet. they said they were going to mail it on wednesday, I'm definitely only a day away from NYC as far as mail goes.

mw86d, yes I did.. my EFC was 21500.. they better match that or I really can't afford NYU.

all right, just got home from college, changed my address to my permenant one to recieve my NYU (predictably rejection) letter. Cipher, are you and I the only ones lefting? eeks. how nervewracking. I applied to gallatin by the way. Did anyone else?

yeah I think we're screwed.

god damn--there are a lot of errors in my previous message/ spelling wise. Oh well. Probably no need to announce that. Well at least, have you ever heard the saying No news is good news? We haven't recieved that all important rejection letter yet either..

I think tomorrow will be the moment of truth...

me too! how nerve-wracking. this week at least. We can finally put an end to the misery though, n'est-ce pas?

Didn't come today...they said it was going to be mailed on wednesday last week and I'm only a day away by mail...I wonder what this means...

means the mail is ****ing slow.. hopefully

ehh I really want to call NYU again but I feel like I call too much. The last time I called was last Weds and I was still under review. How often do you call, Cipher?

I called once last week and they said a decision had been reached. I wouldn't bug them it won't really make a difference. I'd just call after a bunch of weeks to make sure the thing didn't get lost.

Oh man, I just found out my NYU financial aid package. They only gave me 6000 in grant money. That leaves a difference of 39,000 that I have to pay. My parents are willing to pay 10 grand TOPS.

I don't know what to do. Is an education at stern worth 60,000$ in loans? What do you guys think?

If you are smart enough to get in, you probably got into other good schools. You can get a comparable education at a lot of different schools across the country. I threw my NYU acceptance package in the trash after I opened my aid packet. Unless you are absolutely obsessed with Stern, go somewhere similar for a lot less. 60K in undergrad loans + loans for graduate school are going to kill you. And because the economy is poor, it's probably going to take a while for you to pay it off. You're better off going somewhere cheaper and then getting a Stern MBA. I dunno.....that's just my opinion.

Same thing here. I got into NYU but I had 7500 in grant aid and there was no way my family could afford that much money. Everything worked out in the end though, because I got into Berkeley. Basically, I dont think your undergrad education is worth all that debt, especially if you plan on grad school.

The only problem is that the only other school I got into is USC, which gave me 9000$. Still very expensive. I'm appealing both awards, and I'm still holding out for a USC merit scholarship. We'll see what happens. Thanks for your input, guys

waiting sucks, the mailman raises my blood pressure these days.

ehhh I called again today. Still no decision made and I'm as always just under review. God damn it arhrhghghghgh looks like I'll be waiting till June
