Toph, where will you be going instead?

Currently, I'm set on attending UVA. I will do so unless by some miracle I get into Wharton.

I would've given NYU a lot more consideration if I would've applied to Stern. However I'd prefer a finance program to economics. I didn't want to return to Ithaca College though (I was a journalsim major there - didn't want to stay there if I wasn't going to continue with journalism), and I wanted to give myself a better chance of having NYU as an option. Someone told me that Stern's transfer slots are highly variable by year, so I decided to apply to economics instead. And I might still have chosen UVA over NYU. I like the idea of having DI sports. I love sports. I wanted to do sports journalism. I was going to swim at Ithaca, but I got caught up working for the tv and radio stations. That's how I actually learned of the school. A kid from our Y team swam there.

Oh okay, cool. UVA is an amazing school--both the valedvictorians for my class went there. My little brothers are actualyl applyign to colleges next year and we're going to visit UVA this summer. It's a beautiful college. Best of luck to you!

Thanks.

Good luck to you too!

Ceruleanne, have you heard yet? I've been watching this thread so long, I feel like I actually know you, and therefore am hoping for you!! Best of luck! :)

Hi! Aww wow, a message addressed to me. No, I haven't heard yet--they requested to see my final transcript, which I sent exactly a week ago actually. I expect to hear within the next two weeks or something. I'll let you guys know right away when I hear!

good luck ceruleanne, I'm attending BU next year.

Oh yeah? That's great! If I don't get into NYU, I'm applying for BU next semester

hey guys, i dont know if anyone checks this anymore, but I am thinking of transfering tgo NYU and I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the general studies school. My high school grades are low as are my SATs but I am doing very well in college. help!

What gpa would a freshman need for the school of arts and sciences after attending cuny queens college for one year? If you go to Queens for one year and do very well there do they not look at your gpa from high school and put very little emphasis on your sat scores? Any honest imputs would be appreciated Thank You

After skimming through the previous posts, if anyone is still checking these out, chances of getting in to NYU seem to be a bit slim. I have heard of students transferring easily over to NYU both from Queens College and some other various community colleges throughout the inner New York area. I'm currently at a four year institution hoping to transfer by Spring 2008. I had terrible high school grades and SAT scores, but there has been a steady, if not impressive upward trend since 11th grade. I currently have about 35 credits and a 3.966 GPA, and I still don't think I'm going to get in. I'm applying to the CAS for the English and Pol. Sci. programs, but I wouldn't leave this as your only school to apply to. NYU admissions is an unpredictable beast, and it's best if you have a plan B. If anyone has any information or insight, and some encouragement so I will still end up applying, don't be scared to drop a line.

I got into Stern as a transfer. I can't decide whether to go or to stay at Tulane...

Do you visit NYC often, or have you never seen the area?

Yes, I live about an hour outside. I'm there often enough...

Villanova University

1st semester-3.22
2nd semester-3.67
cumulative-3.41

High school GPA-3.67
ACT-29

I applied as an English major. I have recieved A's in every english course throughout my entire life and scored a 33 and 35 on the English and Reading Sections of the ACT. What are my chances?

i found this thread while googling stuff about nyu and thought it would help me out…im a junior at community college right now and have spent one semester there, and currently about to finish my second. i was fortunate enough to receive a 4.0 my first semester and am hoping to get 4 A’s and 1 B this semester. i applied to the school of education at nyu for the spring 09 semester, and was wondering if anyone can tell me around when ill be hearing back from the school…also, i guess i should disclose this, before i came to community college i was at rutgers university where i was kicked out for a poor gpa…i know this sounds really bad and will probably ruin my chances… but i talked to a counselor and he said that more than anything nyu will be looking at the classes that i’ve taken to see if they agree with my intended major… so i’ve written down a lot, can anyone give me so feedback?? preferably positive??

ps… in high school i had about a 3.7 gpa and a 620 for writing, 600 critical thinking, 600 math on the SAT

woah ur stats are almost exactly like mine! i want to transfer too but im not sure if i shud go to community or university. i know ppl have a better chance if they go to community but i just feel like going to a university is safer…altho i probably have a good chance of getting in since my gpa was like urs and sat scores weren’t bad. ppl who transfer usually have LOW stats from and they get in. did u apply already and get in or not get in?
