<p>OK i am very unsure about the first essay on Umichigans Common app.</p>
<p>this is it--Essay #1 (Required for all applicants. Approximately 250 words)
Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it.</p>
<p>I really do not understand what the question is asking or what to write about? i am a white catholic kid from a low income family in canada?</p>
<p>Well you’re Catholic so you could describe how you fit in your church community. Do you play sports or belong to another group which would be the shared interest part of the question? Perhaps you’re the Captain of your football team and you could write about that, or you are Italian or some other ethnicity and you could write about how you fit or don’t really fit into this group.</p>
<p>You’re Catholic, you’re Canadian and you’re low income. You’ve already told us 3 things that you could talk about in your essay. What about your academic/nonacademic interests? This essay is very broad. You can talk about pretty much anything.</p>

<p>When I did this essay, wrote about me being part of an abstract community of leaders.</p>
