Unusual GPA Situation...

Hi all,

In my freshman year, I had a 3.68 unweighted GPA.

However, after freshman year, I moved to another high school, where somewhat fortunately, they only start counting GPA sophomore year. My sophomore and junior years, I had a 4.0 UW GPA, and 4.2/4.3 W GPA.

So, even though on my transcript the 3.68 will be shown for freshman year, I will technically be able to write 4.0 UW (or would putting down weighted GPA be better?) in the little GPA box on the Common App.

My question is, due to my current school's GPA policy, will my 4.0 GPA be viewed the same as a typical 4.0 GPA (perfect through all years of high school)?

Also, worst case scenario, colleges recalculate my GPA to a cumulative UW 3.89 (including freshman year). Is this acceptable?

both GPAs will get you into a lot of places including top schools, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ask your HS guidance counselor how they will report your GPA. You should report it the same they report it.

^
This. Self-reported scores should match whatever confirmation is provided by your school or testing agency.

Freshman year will either be the least important year or not be considered at all. This shouldn’t be much of a problem for you.

Thanks. Because of my school’s policy, the box on the Common App will have 4.0 written in it (even though my freshman transcript says 3.68). This will be fine right?
