What to do about GPA?

My UW GPA is a 3.4 due to poor freshman year grades, and this consequently brings down my WGPA to a 4.0 (out of a 5.0). However when I look at CollegeTracker/Naviance, my chances look a lot better when I put the setting to my weighted GPA rather than my unweighted GPA. I found this little odd, because a 3.4/4.0 is technically greater than a 4.0/5.0? I have taken many AP classes, if that is something that should be considered.

Which one should I put on the CommonApp (it gives you the option)?

Put whichever you want. Because HSs don’t use a common weighting structure, the colleges will recalculate your GPA using their own weighting.

i had the same problem! thanks!

Thank you for your replies.

@Erin’s Dad, would you mind answering another question. My GPA is not exactly a 3.4, but can a round up to it? (it’s above 3.35)

I would say that’s OK. The colleges will recalculate it anyway.
