unweighted gpa is down, weighted gpa is up= downward trend?

So if your unweighted GPA goes down, but your weighted GPA goes up- b/c one took AP and Honors classes but got B's in them instead of A's in regular classes...

Does that count as a downward trend to admissions officers??

yes technically. they well see that the classes got harder though. but yea, it's still a downward trend. :(

but colleges want to see that you took a B in an AP class rather than an A in a regular class so are they really going to count it against you?

well thats one of those trick questions...like whether or not it's better to get a B at Cornell or an A at a community college.

the stupid answer is to get an A at Cornell. yes annoying it is. but it's kinda true.

they will "count it against you" as you say, but i mean it's a B not an F. a B isn't a C either, which sticks out like a sore thumb, and if most of your grades are As then w/e you don't NEED to have all As to be guaranteed a spot. but it would help. anyhow, your right about the importance of APs, if you have all As and no APs and your school offers like 20, then yur in trouble, so the fact that you took the AP is good. but on the flip side, if you have all Bs in APs, your not in a perfect situation either. neither one of those is a perfect situation. whatever, i wouldn't worry about this. your grades are your grades. they are probably good so w/e. and you have many more things than your grades that you can control at this point (im assuming that you're a senior).

meh...
thanks
