Yeah just wanted to post this for people who lost hope into getting into the B-school. They called me this morning and left a msg saying 30 spots were open and asked if i would like to accept one. So of course i did..Is it cause 30 kids rejected the b school for something else?

Right now theyre building this giant badass business building on gregory and 6th (i think) which is supposed to be sponsored by 4 big accounting or finance places or whatever. supposed to be a big deal. should be sweet when they have it done. I hear theres gonna be a place in it where you swipe your I-Card and can only get in if you're an accounting major, and they give you free food.

wow thats actually pretty badass..free food for accounting majors count me in haha anyone else get a phone call today?

CS, business, engineering...*** damnit lol. I want a new physics building!

uiuc always admits more people than they can generally take because they already know that not everyone will accept so they create a small margin of extra admittance. if what you say is true, then it means that a lot more people rejected acceptance then they had thought so they're trying to fill up a little more space.

yeah so i guess a lot of kids turned down u of i..theiracceptance for the b school this year was tough as i met tons of kids with avg b school qualifications not getting accepted. the lady told me about 30 spots were open crazy huh

one of my friends was also accepted into business yesterday, she was told the same thing.. that they were inviting 30 kids who were given spots in las into business..congrats g2g!

wat about engineering?

sorry UIUC the lady mentioned only business. Good luck though

"if what you say is true, then it means that a lot more people rejected acceptance then they had thought so they're trying to fill up a little more space."

Not necessarily true. Business admits based on prior history and prior history had become erratic. Last two years, they saw their acceptance rate increase signnificantly which resulted in getting almost 15% more enrollments than they wanted. This year, as a result, they decreased the number of offers of admission in the hope that acceptances would come in closer to what they wanted. It appears that activity has succeeded leaving them with some spaces to fill but not many. Unfortunately for the person who asked above, engineering usually hits very close to its target with acceptances although there may be a slim chance.

They are also gradually shrinking the class size of Business

I dont want to start a new thread and this is business related so it works..But can anyone tell me about their take on the b-school? Is it easy to get internships, how are the class sizes etc?

it's a great school for business...as long as you maintain a good gpa

Wait, so with the new building will they be accepting more people next year for the B-school?

it will have nothing to do w/ the number of admittance.
