Hi, im having a difficult time deciding which college to attend this coming fall semester. I'm considering uop because the co-op program sounds great being a mech. engineering major. However, from what i've heard the school is pretty...boring? is there a lot of truth to this or is it just over exaggerated?

My son goes to UoP as an engineering major (Comp Sci). It’s a small school. The students who chose UoP chose it because they wanted a small school. They have raves, basketball, engineering clubs, even quidditch matches (I witnessed one between Stanford and UoP.) The students are serious and focused, especially the pre-dental and pharma group. The engineering students play cards and group video games. They don’t go into SF much, if at all. They don’t leave campus much, even though there are zip cars available to rent. If you want more social activity you need to pledge a Greek or join a club like the modern dance club. The Music Conservatory and Theater students do get out more, so you could take some side classes in those subjects if you need a SF posse.
Just a comment, unlike other comparable colleges, UoP puts an emphasis on building their engineering department. It was very good, rated 100th in the US, and it gets better every year. Best of all- no weeder classes in Engineering.

Better than UC’s and CSU’s
