Update: Early Decision Letters

all4game… Unless you have a specific contact among the counsling staff (through an interview, high school visit, college fair, etc.), e-mailing the general e-mail address is what I would recommend.

Our package did not come with the envelope to send back the reply letter. Is it fine just to send it to the admissions office in a regular envelope?

Yes, that would work just as well, Townie45.

First of all, i received my letter on Monday and am absolutely delighted with the customized letter and a few days later, the scholarship letter which will make it possible for me to attend.

However, my best friend, who also applied ED, has not gotten his letter yet and we are in same town on the west coast. He sent you guys an email on the 16th and the reply stated that his application was either still in committee or in the mail.

Should we be worried that it hasn’t arrived yet? More importantly, how often can/should he call or email to find out his status?

baguette = Would you mind sharing some of the numbers in your package?

Amounts for scholarship, grants, loans WS, other? How did these compare to your EFC from College Board and/or U of R calculator?

I am just trying to get a sense?

yellowjacket2015… Sometimes a letter does get delayed by committee review or if the application is completed late - there are a variety of reasons. I think it would be wise for your friend to contact the office as soon as he can to speak with his admissions counselor. That way we can give him much more specific information or identify any issues that may be holding up his letter.

when are Early Decision 2 letters sent?

According to the website, there is no ED 2 at Rochester.

[University of Rochester : College Admissions](http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/apply/freshmen/deadlines.shtm)

Are you sure it has an ED 2, and you didn’t just apply RD?

Daughter’s ED II acceptance letter came today. Daughter is THRILLED!!! The entire process with U of R has been a pleasure. Other schools could learn from the supportive, encouraging, open, respectful process–my daughter felt wanted and special from the beginning. She is so happy to be joining the U of R family. The personalized letter was the icing on the cake. Thank you Mike and team.

Congrats to your daughter, questmom! I am glad to hear that you have had such a positive experience - if you don’t mind I will share that with my staff. This time of year can be particularly stressful, so I know some of my co-workers will be excited to have some positive reinforcement.

We do have an EDII option, but it isn’t advertised on the website. Usually we have a handful of applicants who express a desire to apply ED after the EDI deadline, and we will offer this opportunity in most circumstances.

Yes Mike. Please do share the feedback. The team needs to know that the quality of their efforts is paying off. Thank you again.

So I received a letter about ED II mid December. It stated that I could still apply Early Decision and I certainly did not hesitate. In the letter, it said that I would know in about three weeks after they recieved my contract. Well it’s been about five weeks since the admissions office got it in the mail and I still haven’t gotten any notification from them. In my Roc account, it says it’s on step 4, but it has been for about two weeks now. Should I call the admissions office and see what’s going on? I tried emailing my first reader but I haven’t got a reply back yet…

sslamp… Yes, you should definitely call. It is rare, but a few of our EDII applications have been miscoded as Regular Decision. I recommend calling versus e-mailing. We are sometimes inundated with hundreds of e-mails, and a call is the quickest way to have your questions/concerns addressed. As a counselor, I can say that I truly appreciate when a student picks up the phone.
