UPDATED: chance a transfer?

I am applying to these 4 schools as a Junior transfer from the University of Oregon for this coming Spring 2014 semester.

I am applying as an Education major, but changing it right when I get there to either Political Science for Sociology.

I'm also hispanic, if that counts for anything?

My freshmen year grades are AWFUL. I picked doing pre-med because I thought I would enjoy it.. Completely wrong. So I changed my major in sophomore year and got a MUCh better GPA in my 2nd year. I wrote in the common app, explaining why I got a bad GPA first year

Freshman year: Basically a 2.0
Sophomore year: 3.6 (Dean's List winter term) got 7 A's out of 9 classes, but some of the A's were minuses.. Which count against me, which sucks.

I volunteer in an Elementary School special education classroom
I volunteer at an elderly home once a week

UPDATE: I applied to Chapman University but was DENIED :(

American University in Washington DC (have expressed interest by emailing with admissions counselor and going to their college fair beginning of November)
California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA
Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles
Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA
University of Redlands in Redlands, CA (really hoping I get into other schools so I don't end up there)

I posted before, but I already found out about 1 school… Weirdly fast

CLU: low match
AU: low reach
Loyola: match
Pepperdine: high match
Redlands: match

Bumpppp me

Pepperdine seems a really bad fit due to religious issues, but if you like it, look into Biola, Azusa, Vanguard, and Point Loma.

California Lutheran is slightly less selective than Chapman, LMU similar to Chapman.
AU is not within reach at this point. Redlands is a match, but if you don’t really want to go to Redlands, look for a couple other schools you’d be comfortable at so that you have a choice and don’t feel like it’s you’re only alternative to UO. Why not look into University of San Diego or University of San Francisco since you don’t mind LMU?

What was your SAT score ? Can I please take a look at your essay ? Chapman has an accept rate of 40% which really troubles me, it depends on your essay mainly , GPA , SAT . Even if your first GPA was low it all comes down to how you explained it in your essay. The rest is a notable magnificent improvement. Which is a +. But there are many personal factors as well, depends really.

I didn’t have to send in test scores because I had enough credits.

CLU: low match
AU: reach
Loyola:medium match
Pepperdine: high match
Redlands: match

Bump10char

I don’t know much about these schools other than LMU and Pepperdine. You’re a high match for both, but definitely a better chance at LMU than Pepperdine.

CLU:Low match
AU:Reach
Loyola:Match/slightly high match
pepperdine:low reach/high match
redlands:match

I would say Pepperdine is a reach and also American. Loyola: high match. I believe for the rest you are fine. it helps that your grades went up because it shows commitment and improvement overtime which I like to think they look at.
Best of luck

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1569193-will-chance-back-chances-brown-georgetown-sfs.html

Thank you for chancing me- I don’t really know enough about these schools to give you a solid answer. I’ve heard of pepperdine and judging by my previous knowledge and what others are saying, I’d say it would be a high match to a reach. Good luck!
