You are well below W&L's standards. HOWEVER, W&L is a small school and does not have a very well-known name. Therefore, if you express a lot of interest by writing letters, joining the mailing list, doing an interview, and applying EA/ED, you may be able to sway the admissions committee. Boost your GPA, QPA, Class rank, and standardized tests, and become as actively involved in the W&L community as possible. If you can, find a few alumni in your area and get them to write you recommendations, this may help too. By the way, W&L equally ranks everyone it places on the waiting list. So if you do find a letter offering you a place on their waiting list next spring, join and do as much as possible to show the admissions committee how much you LOVE W&L. Good luck!!
P.S. Make sure that you have specific and well thought out reasons as to why you want to got to W&L.

I wouldn't say the "not being a well-known name" has doodly to do w/ it. The Johnson scholarships have really heightened our applications.

Yeah- you'll have to ramp up your activities. W&L doesn't want people Library Pale, but you do need a certain level of grades. Tell your "story" about why your grades are upward-trending and why they started lower. And be sure you know what you bring to the W&L culture of student activity, b/c there's a ton to be done.
