Hey, I was just wondering that after I apply to UC/CSU in October can I still update my SAT/ACT scores to what I get in November? Any help would be great.

You need to know the cut off dates for scores to be received by the schools you are interested in to know if there is time for them to see those scores. Factor in when the scores will be available and the time it takes for the collegeboard to send them.

You can always send them your score. If they have not reviewed your application yet, or if they have deferred you, then they should take it into account.

Most schools with a 1/1 cutoff date will accept the December tests.

Go to the school’s website. Many of them list the cutoff dates for standardized tests. If they have rolling admissions (that start before 12/1), then you will have to decide if you want to complete your application early (and they may review without your Nov scores), or you wait to complete, and possibly the school has filled up before they review you.

If I am taking an ACT in October and I would like to apply early action to several of my schools, will I have to wait then? Or can I send in every besides the scores, and then when I get the scores I can send them in? (I apologize if this is confusing.)

Taylor, you need to go to each of the school’s websites or call admissions and ask them the last day they will accept scores for EA. Every school is different. The ACT site will tell you when the Oct scores are available and the site probably says how long it take to send them to schools. If not call the ACT and ask.

Send in your application as soon as you can, regardless of your testing date. Whether they process your application without your scores is a different issue. But, if you don’t send in the application, then they definitely will not process your application. Worst case, they will defer you until the regular admissions process when your scores are available.

okay thank you for your help. I am already done with my applications for all of my early action schools so I am going to send them in today, and then contact the school. That would be the smartest thing to do right?

If you have checked them over and you feel they are ready to go, then send them. Sometimes the school’s website may say when scores must be in by but otherwise call them an find out the final date. Also, you need your counselor rec, transcript and teacher recs sent by whatever deadlines the school has for EA as well so check that too.

That would be a good plan. e-mail the Admissions Officer for your school/area to let them know you have submitted your EA application and when you will take the ACT/SAT.
