@northstarfx Thanks for the info. Do you have a link to that segment?
Sorry, I don’t have a direct link. It was broadcast on Wharton’s Business Radio on Sirius XM with a host named Dan Loney. The link to the main site is https://businessradio.wharton.upenn.edu/. Dean Furda actually said that Penn is “over 100% enrollment” at this point. He said there may still be some students who take gap years, or who leave Penn for peer schools if they get off other waitlists, but it really sounds like chances are slim for open spots.
@northstarfx I tried to find it on the link you sent, but I couldn’t figure out how to find a segment from today that aired with Dean Furda. Oh well. I’m sure they will announce something soon. I have a few friends whose children are hoping to get off the waiting list.
@portlandBlazer @aBitOfLuck I believe it is a waitlist for both because M&T does have a waitlist, perhaps email them to check? I know someone said they received the waitlist to both (confirmed by admissions office)
Waitlisting is rarely a reason for hope

Dean of Admissions Eric Furda added that the waitlist is usually meant as a courtesy. For example, if Penn cannot accept any applicants from a given high school, it may waitlist some of those applicants in order to maintain a relationship with that school. This logic, Furda said, even applies to parents.
I am a Neumann Scholar which is a regional program for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and at the graduation ceremony for seniors, there were at least three students who declined Penn so my hope is to get in that way but what will be will be!
DD just got off the Waitlist, Wharton, got a call from Dean Furda at about 4pm (EST), asking DD to check the portal. Very excited!!
Wow, congrats to your daughter! A personal call from Dean Furda is awesome!!! WAY-TO-GO!
Did she send in any supplementary materials?
Congrats to her! Mind sharing what region you’re located in? I know in the past they’ve done it regionally.
MA
She sent an additional ref
It is possible that they have met the target class size in total, but may be a few students short in a couple of schools.
Getting a call from the Dean is very impressive!
So is it done deal for the rest of us?
@thesolu I doubt that they are ready to say that yet. Every time a top school admits a student from their waitlist, it can cause a long chain reaction.
For example, a student how has been accepted at Stanford, but was waitlisted at Harvard. Harvard admits the student from the waitlist, and the student decides to attend. That student informs Stanford. Stanford then admits a student from their waitlist who decides to attend and had previously accepted at Penn. That student lets Penn know. Now Penn has a spot open. Etc.
That is why they have to pause for a few days now. Even if they have a full class at the moment, they might not tomorrow. There is always a few weeks of this shifting around. It happens to every year at every school.
@Much2learn so there’s still a chance for the rest of us?
i really hope there is a chance. I want to go to Penn so bad. Attending somewhere else and getting a transfer to Penn would be super difficult so this literally is my best chance.
If they know they are done, they will send out a note.
I am sorry the process is so awful.
A boy at my child’s school heard on 5/6 that he was admitted from the waitlist. So they are not oversubscribed and they are still active. At least as of Friday.
@Rosyln, thank you for sharing! Do you know which college he was accepted to (Wharton, SFS, Nursing, CAS)?
@northstarfx Wharton. He is a WM if that matters.
@Rosyln would you also mind telling us what state?
