UPenn Class of 2018 ED Applicants

I keep on swinging from being super pumped about it and sure I’m getting in to wanting to lay in my bed and cry because I know I’ll be rejected.

Thank god we don’t have finals until January because I’m too stressed to do any homework or anything.

Would an ED candidate receive a likely letter considering they are already bound to go to Penn?

Many athletes do but they have already received them back in October. A few in our local schools signed them during November 5th national ceremony.

Since they are admitting people today for QB, it would have been easy enough to issue a few letters just to ease the tension. Whether they were issued or not depends on how many were issued and what makes them special. Penn definitely issues a bunch during February for RD.

texas: I thought the QB matches were all announced on Monday Dec 2? One of my interviewees found out on Monday (for another Ivy)

Looks like QB mailed out letters on Wednesday based on the facebook picture.

They did notify people on Monday.

Congratulations, Cirrandir! The acceptance must have been a huge load off of your chest :).

Reasons why I think I’ll get accepted… uhhhh… GPA / rank, rec letters (I waived my FERPA, but my French teacher showed me my rec letter after she submitted it. Strange. It was very good nonetheless.), art supplement. I have also started my own business, but I don’t know how highly the adcom will consider that since it’s not verified or anything.

I’m kind of concerned about my SAT scores though (2150). Most of my subject tests were okay (APUSH - 710, Math II 720), but my Lit subject test was absolutely horrible (a 590)! I’m also worried about my Penn supplement essay. It was very rushed, and I couldn’t get anybody else to read it :(.

I live in India so I’ll get the decision at 3:30 am so I won’t be able to sleep till then :frowning:
I’m super nervous because I feel like my Ec’s, essays, grades are all very good but I’m scared my SAT 2s will ruin it for me (Math 2- 730 and bio- 700).
Does anyone know to what extent the Sat 2s can affect the decision if everything else is great? My SAT 1 is 2250, Ive been getting a 41/42 in IB, I own an NGO and I invented a new dance style. The competition here is really high, last year from all of India only 2 students got in ED out of the 42 who applied.

It certainly doesn’t help you but they obviously take a very holistic view of applicants so am average SAT II score will not break your application

iamoym : Dude I have almost the same scores as you! 2140 in SAT 1. 710 in maths level 2, 600 in lit!

Karishmaseth : ^the low scores should help you feel better yours :stuck_out_tongue: Indian here as well! where are you from? Where did you get those stats from?

just over a week to go… eek

I have a countdown clock going and I had a bit of a freakout when the day number dropped into single digits yesterday.

@KarishmaSeth I am from Nepal and I applied ED to Penn as well! Seriously getting up late that night will be one hell of a heart attack right? mines on like 3 45 AM December 17th

@Harrovian Best of luck! You will definitely get in! Damn 9 days left

Many colleges have started to send ED decisions already! I think middlebury sent out theirs

@mumford07 You’re going to wake up? I won’t be sleeping at all!
@Alcaraz True that
@absingha hmm not really lol. Bombay

@mumford07, thanks for the vote of confidence. Best of luck to you (and to everyone) as well.

I’m sure that whether penn or not, everything will pan out all right for everyone. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be, I suppose. But, here’s still to hoping for Penn.

Not to stress you guys out even more, but do you think there’s any chance decisions could be released earlier, if they finish reviewing applications sooner than expected?

Last year, decisions were out on the 12th, I think? Penn also extended its ED deadline then.

Why should they do that jumper? If anything, colleges wanted extra time due to the Common App issues this year. There’s no incentive to announce anything early.

I doubt they would since they already released the date and time and sent out emails…

Has it ever happened in the past?

I’m not sure if it’s ever happened, but when I told my counselor about the decision release date, she said they may/may not release it a couple of days earlier. Though it’s hard to tell since Penn did say they will post decisions on the 16th.

Monday also seems like a hard day to release decisions since there was a weekend before it.
