UPenn Class of 2025 Waitlist

Just submit it to the portal, I called in and asked. For most places there isn’t a representative and Penn does not give out individual constancy information so you can only send them to regional offices (ex. Northeastern area). The lady that answered my phone said that they prefer uploading it to the portal so the whole admissions team can see.

is there a deadline for the update?

Yes, on the FAQ for the waitlist, it says “Our form will only allow you to submit an update
once, so we recommend you take your time and upload one comprehensive document by April 19, 2021”. So, I’m probably submitting mine tomorrow.

Thank you! I will probably submit it then too.

Hello, where did you find the waitlist FAQ for 2021? I don’t see it in their website.

It’s in the decision letter they sent out, also you can just look it up online “UPenn waitlist frq”

I’ve submitted mine and it allows you to submit a new one which is weird but I guess that’s only before April 19th.

can you still submit the form after April 19th if you haven’t before?

The waitlist offer form I don’t think so, the waitlist update probably. But you can always try doing so on applicant portal and if it doesn’t work, call in and there might be a way out.

I submitted my update after April 19th, do you think that would hurt my chances? Also, do they start releasing decisions in May?

It shouldn’t be an issue. They don’t start reviewing applications until the end of April/beginning of May. I also submitted mine late and sent an email with a followup question and they didn’t mention anything.

thank you so much!

No, if they accepted it (uploaded successfully) then it shouldn’t be a issue.

Thank you!

last year wave 1 of waitlist acceptances was around the 5th of May (according to last years cc waitlist thread) so do you guys stand to reason that this year it’d be on or around the 8th? since decision day was shifted up from May 1 to May 3 this time around?

It really depends on their yield acceptance rate, the fuller their class is the later waitlist acceptances will come out, but we can make predictions starting on May 4th since data will be coming out on how many accepted offers.

roughly how many people were waitlisted this year? I am an international student who has not applied for financial aid

We don’t know that until after May 3rd, but in the past years it has been from 3000-3500 that are placed on the waitlist and about 2000-2500 that accept the offer, there shouldn’t be a difference this year. What really differs is how many people get off the waitlist, last year it was 101 (due to COVID) and the year before that it was 9 (due to a underestimated yield rate). This year they have a predicted yield rate of about 75% which is 7% higher then their usual yield rate and it technically means that we have a greater chance of getting in but there’s also the factor of including deferrals from last year. It’s also interesting that they have a mew temporary dean of admissions this year so the yield rate could’ve been excluding the deferrals and thus meaning the waitlist will be utilized more but at this point it’s all unknown until they release information in early May but the earlier they start contacting people, the higher chance for more people to get in as last year the first contacts were only a few days after the decision day but the year before that it wasn’t until early June. Although there’s about 2000 on the waitlist, there’s also a percentage of them that are only on the list due to legacy and as comfort for the family due to connections. So technically, for those of us who are on the real list, we do have a bigger chance of getting in when compared to what we faced in the regular decision round of three percent acceptance rate. And for everyone on this thread, be confident in yourself, you might not be the best but you’re good enough to get on the waitlist which means that you should be proud and to a extent this year is a difficult year, a lot of us might’ve got in if it was any other year.
