UPenn Class of 2025 Waitlist

Great news! Thanks a lot everyone!

Thank you for the info. Crossing my fingers this group sees the most WL admits. So do you give your name each time you call or do you stay anonymous?

Okay I know Reddit is not the most reliable place but apparently someone called the office and they said if thereā€™s any movement, it will be in June. So the responses of the two AOā€™s are actually contradicting. This is really confusing and I was just happy that they were gonna admit off the waitlist but now Iā€™m concerned again :frowning:

I read the reddit chat. The person who said that was corrected. They said the WL admits would happen in June, but the Penn information actually says May through June.

And my school counselor called her Penn contact and she told my counselor May through Juneā€“and sometimes July and right before school is even possibleā€¦ and the admit numbers get smaller as the summer progressesā€“so May is the bigger wave.

They never ask and I prefer to stay anonymous plus I donā€™t think they check caller id.

Hi There! Iā€™m an international waitlist who hasnā€™t applied for financial aid. (Penn is Need-Aware though?). Does anyone have an idea on what the distribution of waitlists is? IE. Are there different waitlists for CAS, Wharton, Engineering etc.

Hi! Congratulations to you on your award, not an easy feat to be a Top 10 Student! Just to inform you I called the Admissions Office, and asked about the applications. A representative actually told me to ensure not to send any updates, because if I do it might irk the committee, or might not even get processed, because the Waitlisted applications are currently under review as they are, with of course, the addition of the LOCI document. Maybe she was just saying it so students donā€™t additionally burden the AC? I would definitely recommend calling and asking them once before you send anything now!

I also got the same info when I called the AO! The representative told me that Early June is the earliest they send out decisions. Does anyone know anything that suggests otherwise?

Iā€™ve read so much about the arguments for or against sending updates, but Iā€™m just going for it.

Theyā€™ve kept that Waitlist Update button live so Iā€™m using it.

I sent a LOCI in mid April, my counselor called, and this is my second update.

My school is sending another LOR.

Been spacing things out about every two weeks to stay on the radar, but not be a stalker.

I gotta stay on the radar for when I donā€™t make it off WL in the first wave!

Maybe itā€™ll kill my chances, but I think it will just be ignored in the worst case. The most likely scenario is that Iā€™m not getting off the WL, but I think Iā€™ll be happier knowing I sent it than always wondering What If.

Did you guys read about that kid last year who sent memes like every other day and got in! LOL! I donā€™t have the courage to do anything like that!

Does anyone know the distribution of waitlist between the schools (cas, seas, etc)? I got waitlisted for seas and just wondering if that makes a difference.

Iā€™ve read that the waitlist numbers are proportionally divided based on the college sizes and admit targets/limits for the each of colleges. Like ā€œXā€ number of total waitlist is CAS waitlist and ā€œYā€ is to cover SEAS.

Yes, I recall being told once that UPenn considers admissions only specific to the different colleges. So I assume they will be different waitlists for different schools.

Youā€™re right! Go for it. Do your best, leave the rest lmao. The waitlist is so tiring

guys am I the only one who feels disappointed when Princeton and Columbia accepts that many off the waitlist? Donā€™t get me wrong Iā€™m super happy for those who got admitted, but seeing them and seeing other schools like UPenn who probably will not use the waitlist as much as them makes me kinda sad. Like Princeton literally defied the expectations, I. wish UPenn did the same as well. I feel like I am missing this opportunity.

where does the notion that penn wont use the waitlist as much stem from? people here called and said that theyā€™re going to utilize the waitlist - to an extent that is not known by us - but an extent regardless. On top of this, Iā€™ve seen only like 5 people get off. Relax, our time will come, we just have to be patient.

5 people have gotten off pennā€™s waitlist?

no the columbia waitlist

Penn is need blind for all domestic students and a few foreign countries, what country are you from? Penn does waitlist by school and if you login to applicant portal it tells you what school youā€™re waitlisted for. We donā€™t know the number of students waitlisted for each school but I do know that Wharton consists of 15% of Pennā€™s student population, however there is more than 15% of the applications that are for Wharton because of its competitiveness. Waitlist wise, they never release information like this but personally I think waitlist numbers will be kept consistent to school student proportion for Wharton since despite receiving more applications, they also expect a higher yield rate so thereā€™s no true need of waitlisting a bunch of people. I again would expect the waitlist number to be greater than the student proportion for schools/majors that are not as popular at Penn since they have lower yield rates.
