Does anyone know if Penn looks at the Nov subject SAT scores? If my subject SAT score isnt upto the mark will it be a reason to reject my application? I have a really good GPA, great extra curriculars, great essay and great LORs However I only have a 32 on my ACT and my subject SATs arent that great as well. Basically standardized testing went horrible. Would that be a reason to get rejected? Im applying to Wharton btw.
@Chipotlegurl28 32 on the ACT will only put you at the 25th percentile, so of course, your score will adversely affect your chances especially in a self-selecting ED pool. In terms of the subject test scores, I’ve heard that Wharton and SEAS really value them. If you took one in November, Penn will review your score as long as you requested to send your score when you registered for the test. I guess the point is that doing well on standardized tests and having a solid GPA are almost like prerequisites when applying to a college like Penn – especially Wharton – so you could be rejected even with stellar ECs and essays. But anything can happen so stay hopeful.
I applied ED to Wharton. My resume had down that I did some volunteer work for the campaign for a $1 billion dollar infrastructure project. After I applied, I ended up being hired by the campaign and eventually received recognition from some prominent officials. Is this newsworthy enough to be an applicant update?
I had my interview several days ago. She asked me a lot of questions on my political views and on presidential elections. She also asked me where else I applied. I honestly felt really uncomfortable with those questions. I thought these questions were not supposed to show up in an interview. I mentioned something about Trump and she seems really wired. But I think she probably got mad at me since she did not reply to my thank-you note (email). I was very worried about that interview and what shall I do?
@heidilol , I think this is another example of when you need to let admissions know about this interviewer. I agree with you, political views of a student or where he/she applied should not be asked about.
I forgot to send an email to thank my interviewer, should I still do it even though its been 2 weeks?
if you guys want a daily vlog type thing, follow PreviewingPenn on Instagram. They have someone vlog their day and post it on their story pretty much every day.
@Cwizkid @kcrag Again, I stand with my earlier statements that unless you’ve won something national or international, at this point, potentially two weeks before decisions are out, it’s not worth inundating the admissions officer with extra information.
@pennplz Probably not lol; it’ll look as if you forgot your interviewer or were too busy for him/her if you waited two weeks.
@heidilol Don’t worry about your interview; CCers, correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I understand, most interviewers don’t reply to a thank you email.
@heidilol @winky1 I had my interview for Penn about two weeks ago. I was also asked about my college list, and we also talked about the political culture in the US including my views. I wasn’t expecting some of the questions, but I thought they were fair. Here’s my suggestion: I wouldn’t be too quick to contact the admissions because based on the context of the conversation I think both topics – college list and political views – are fair game. Btw, I didn’t receive a reply to my thank you note either.
same! i wouldn’t say my interviewer made me uncomfortable, but he did ask me where else i was applying, which i’m pretty sure is a complete no-no (i went on their interview website for alumni and it said not to ask that, also for my MIT interview i lightheartedly mentioned Harvard and my interviewer told me he wasn’t allowed to talk about other schools). so (for the Penn interview) i mentioned yale, and my interviewer was like “yeah…yale’s kinda overrated” lmaoo
Sigh, all my classmates who applied to Penn got their interview… I still haven’t. Not even sure if I will even get one. Is there a cut-off date for interview invitations?
@bubari Someone on this thread said alum interview forms were due on 21st (today). So if that’s true you won’t have an interview.
That’s rather unfortunate. But then again, the whole process is quite random…
@abpuma HI you’re the only other international Huntsman applicant I’ve seen on CC… which country?
Don’t feel alone. I didn’t get one either.
@Winky1 @Burrito12 @ayakobi26 @rosaliefontaine Thank you to all CCers! My counselors also suggested not to call the office now since we based everything on our guesses. But I feel much better getting replies from you guys.
@rosaliefontaine yes that is a big no-no. They are not supposed to do that.
Hey guys, I asked my coach to write a additional letter of recommendation for me had school counsellor sent it to UPenn, but the Upenn portal only has status for teacher recommendation 1 and 2. Does anyone know anything about additional letters of recommendation and whether they’ll show up on the portal when the admission office receives it? thanks
