UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T Early Chances

I am currently finishing up my sophomore year at a 1200-student public school in a suburb of New York. I know it's pretty early for me to be asking this, but could you guys please let me know what you think my odds are for Penn's M&T program.

-I'm not sure how to convert it to a four-point scale, but my gpa is a 99.3ish unweighted. Weighted I think it will be about 103.
-I don't know, but I would be surprised if I'm not top 5 in my class.
-I work very, very hard to earn the grades that I get, showing the "commitment to academics" that I think colleges value.
-Freshman Course Load: Honors Bio, Honors Geometry, Honors English, Honors World History, Intro to Engineering (College Credit), Spanish II
-Sophomore Course Load: Chem Honors, Trig Honors, AP World, Principles of Engineering (College Credit), English Honors, Entertainment and Sports Marketing, Health, Spanish III
-As a junior I will take: Spanish IV, Pre-Calc Honors, AP Chem, AP Physics B, AP US History, Civil Engineering and Architecture (College Credit), English Honors
-I'm confident that I got a 5 on the AP World Exam. I took SAT IIs in Math I and Chem, expecting between 720 and 750 on math (I will probably hide this) and above a 770 on Chem (which I could take again after taking AP next year if I wanted)

Extracurriculars:
-Will be a member of Mu Alpha Theta for all 4 years
-DECA Member (this was my first year and I went to states, I plan to continue as a junior and senior)
-Started my own tutoring business
-Started my own music blog that I advertise using Twitter, etc.; I have connected with some artists (no one who is well-known yet), and entered into partnerships where I post their music and they tweet about my blog and such--I feel like this is significant because it is a technology-based business, the point of M&T
-Coach a youth basketball league-approx. 15 volunteer hours/year
-Volunteer working with disabled kids through a local program that offers them sports opportunities-anywhere from 20 to 35 hours/year
-I also work in the offices for that program as a kind of volunteer/intern-2 hours/week
-This summer, I am going to Montana for a month to camp on a Native American reservation and build homes; I will earn 100 service hours while there
-Played 2 years of JV Basketball but will not continue to varsity-I don't know if colleges agree, but I think it is important that I worked extremely hard to even make it to JV

Hopeful:
-Plan to join Science, History, Spanish, and National Honor Societies as a Junior
-Will take on leadership roles in clubs/honor societies
-I am hoping to be accepted into the Jerome Fisher high school program for next summer
-May or may not run track next spring
-Hoping to become a writer for Rant Sports (similar to Huffington Post)

*I consider myself a person of good character. I am very social and think I am generally well-liked by my teachers and peers. I don't know how to make this come across other than through essays and volunteer work, but the most important things to me really are my friends and family.

I would be happy to chance anyone who replies to me, although I'm not especially knowledgeable about the admissions process.

Also, if anyone is familiar with any programs similar to Jerome Fisher I would be glad to know about them. I would also love to know how you guys think I can improve my chances/application.

Sorry to do this but…bump

UPenn Jerome Fisher: Reach

Would you say high reach or low reach? And do you say that because you feel that it’s a reach for everyone (which I’ve heard), or because you think something specific is missing from my application?

Anyone…please?

You are on a good track, but it’s hard to tell so early, and I think you know this. Make the most of your junior year, and try to get into a really prestigious program next summer!

Chance back?

SAT/ACT score is an extremely important factor in college decisions, and you haven’t listed it yet. Even if you got a perfect, though, realize that Jerome Fisher isn’t a “low reach” for anyone. It’s one of the elite programs in the country: a dual degree at an ivy, with one of the degrees from the #1 business undergrad.

Only 50 people matriculate from M&T each year. It’s yield is in the 80s I believe, or higher.

It is a high reach, for EVERYONE, and arguably the hardest college program in the nation.

As I have continued looking at it I realize you are right that it is extremely difficult for anyone to get into, and it is harder to judge me considering I haven’t taken SAT or ACT. If you had to say though, how would you rate my chances if I continue on the path I’m on?

Your scores, rigor, and ECs are excellent. You’re doing everything you can and deserve it. But deserving isn’t enough; there’s an element of luck.

I had a perfect SAT, I wrote for the Huff Post, and I had published a book. Rejected from the M&TSI summer program. I’ll see how it goes with M&T next year, but realize that this is unpredictable. Don’t fall in love with one college or one program too much.

Thank you for your comments. I wish you the best of luck when you apply to Jerome Fisher. Hopefully we will both be there in a few years.

Thanks for chancing me!

Honestly, hard to say. You look like a solid applicant off the bat, but you need some kind of hook, something that you really love that will come across to Penn. That being said, if you keep up this trend GPA wise (raise that weighted GPA, keep that UW GPA the same or raise it) you do look like a strong applicant. But Jerome Fisher is ALWAYS a crapshoot, its easily the hardest thing to get into at Penn.

For Penn ED?: Low Reach because its at least a reach for everyone, but you look really qualified.
Jerome Fisher: High Reach, because its harder to get into than HYPSM

That being said, you do look more qualified then most. I’d say you have about a 10% chance greater than the acceptance rate at Fisher, which is actually pretty good. Write bomb-ass essays, and find a good hook, and you’ll have a VERY good shot. Oh, and don’t mess up junior year.

I’d say you’re on the right track but you could do a little more to show that you’re really into business. Some things that I’ve done to show that I’m dedicated to business were FBLA (I don’t know if your school has it, it’s similar to DECA) and DECA where I won at the national level. Work really hard to achieve that and it’ll look really good on your apps!

Also, I’d recommend that you show your interest in UPenn itself. I am attending the LBW Program (at Wharton) over the summer and it’s a great way to show UPenn that you’re willing to dedicate yourself to attending.

Finally, do you mind chancing me back? (: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1515277-safeties-matches-reaches-chance-me.html

You need a strong SAT score and a decent math background. It’s better for you to get a 5 on AP calculus before you apply because most people in M&T have really strong math… (Engineering and finance need Math…) You have a decent chance since it’s still quite early…
