nice rejectedfrommit

let the countdown begin...2 days from now, we will all know...

i wonder if we have any chance whatsoever...whats the day that accepted students had to let penn know?

i believe it's May 31 (3 weeks from the date of the admission letter)

ah so in theory they won't really know EVERYONE's decision who was accepted since people got accepted later etc

what I know is that the earliest admission letter was sent on may 10 and students have to reply within 3 weeks,

i got a letter dated May 24th... I'm working on opening it yet... it's a thin letter... does that mean rejection??????? SCARED!

oh god tell me your one of those people smilefriends28....

i really don't understand your type haha....when information regarding my life is available, be it test scores, admissions letters, etc...i NEED to see it IMMEDIATELY...there is no waiting

idk... i was kind of on the phone getting my passport for China... so... now I'm finally free... ahh.. i think I'm gunna call my best friend and open it with her on the phone.... why is it a thin letter?

i can't wait for another 2 days---not good because i have an anthropology midterm tomorrow and i haven't studied at all

yeah if you have three weeks and only some got admitted may 10 the rolling admissions thing becomes harder to believe. and even if it was used to some degree they would be going off limited data b/c there is no real advantage to accepting earlier. People tend to wait until later, they have to hear from other schools and part with the $400 (?) deposit.

I think they might admit the strongest applicants first and then gather more info on the maybes (hence all the e-mails) before making a final decision, resulting in the later notification date. Imo this makes more sense then them trying to gauge matriculation percentages from a limited pool and then basing further admissions decisions off of that.

Thin letters usually aren't a good sign as the school typically includes transfer credit evaluation, housing info, response form in a folder (or at least mine have).

yeah i'm sort of happy i didn't get a letter and i got to send my grades for second semester which improved from 3.87 to 3.94

hopefully this does me some good!!!! :)

Wow that is really great news smilefriends. Much better than the alternative (waitlist or reject!)

um.... is anyone waitlisted officially?

I think vcoleman was waitlisted. I'm guessing that with Penn's large applicant pool, they do waitlist transfers.

I'm a Wharton applicant....

wow i'm jealous of that letter actually

I just got the big package!!! is there anyone got into engineering school???
