@Ayieee genius… How did you even find out?! lol That’s exactly what I was talking about Apparently this guy graduated from Wharton. So his advice should be pretty authentic I think. @BrownPlsThx Thanks for the kind words dude. Feeling much much better now
@Ayieee Thank you so much!
@Extra0dinary No problem! Helping others to alleviate anxiety is what CC is for haha. I personally am really interested in interdisciplinary studies. I’m hoping this interest will help me to get into Penn and especially Brown with the Open Curriculum. But the world needs both interdisciplinary and specialized people, so do universities .
Brown and Upenn are the schools that I had an interview for them, I hope to get into one of them. Good luck everyone!
I love this thread so much it’s so chill and everyone is so sweet - hoping we all get in in
@BrownPlsThx You are sooo sweet! Oh, and your passion for Brown is easily seen in your username I also applied to Brown. I hope that we all get into either one of these two amazing colleges. That said, I’m sure we’ll be happy no matter where we end up! @graceann is absolutely right - this is exactly why I love CC! It’s been such pleasure to get to know this amazing community.
@BrownPlsThx No problem!! Glad I could help
@Extra0dinary Haha I remember watching this guy after I had submitted my supplement. Luckily I talked about the interdisciplinary nature of Penn so I was relieved when he mentioned stuff that I had included in my essay. But like @BrownPlsThx said, Penn is going to take students like you who are very focused on one discipline as well as others who are interested in multiple disciplines. You still stand as good a chance as anyone!
Thank you so much for the kind words @Ayieee ! You sound like a wonderful fit for PENN I wish you all the best!!! Feeling much more relieved now
after 11 rejects and 2 acceptance from 2 universities ranked above the 50s, not feeling any hope at all. My essay was my best one out of all my universities but my interview was awkward because it was my only one, not much confidence but i guess we got to wait and see /: MARCH 31! goodluck everyone!!
@happy201998 I know it’s not much help but I’m like 99% positive that your interview could not have been more awkward than mine. So on the bright side…things could be worse. To give you an idea of awkward in relation to my interview; he was already mad at me because of our emails when we were trying to pick a time/place, he started laughing when I was telling him about a traumatic experience I had because he thought I was going to say something else, and I literally forgot to give him my resume even though I had it in front of me the entire time (on top of some other things). So honestly, my chances at UPenn are like 0%.
3 days, 21 hours, and 36 minutes left!! Stay strong :))
@bluepaint1 If you aren’t an intenational applicant, forgetting to give your interviewer a resume will not hurt you. According to this page on the Penn admissions site, it specifically states that domestic applicants should not bring a resume to the interview.

@followthelines huh, thanks. I’m from Texas, so that’s a nope on international. Could’ve sworn I asked if he wanted it in the emails and he said yes…oh well.
Oh thats interesting. I did one for Princeton and it went so well, I literally loved talking to the guy that I didnt even wanna leave but he had to go after an hour. But my Upenn one was online so it was much harder to be myself and i was late because i was outside and it started raining and so i had to move and idk it just didn’t show me as a person like i wanted to either but thank you @bluepaint1 lets hope for the best. I have 7 more universities to await for letters but not very hopeful as 3 are ivies and one is one tht my essay was so bad. Praying one pulls through like U of Michigan or Upenn…aka my first choice but thats a dream!
what time do results come out?
5 eastern time on thursday
Hi guys, I was just wondering how much the interview affects the admission decision. I felt like I aced it and the interviewer said she’s going to fight for me as much as she can. How much can 1 interview affect the committee’s decision.
My GPA and rank are good enough (Straight As in every class 10th & 11th class) top 5%. Personal Statement was great, but I rushed the supplementary essay. Its good but it could’ve been much better. I didn’t want to apply initially because I didn’t think i’d get in thats why I didn’t have enough time for extra essay. Also, my SAT is a bit below average: 2080 (750 on math though). I am international so I hope they don’t let the english sections affect me that much. Excellent recommendations. My application is normal I guess but I was just wondering if an amazing interview could give me a real push.
My decisions so far: Rejected: Berkeley Waitlisted: Boston College Accepted: Uni of Southern California, Boston U, Northeastern U (40% Scholarship), UC-San Diego.
So what do you think? My expectations are really low.
Sorry for hijacking the thread but i’m just rly nervous/excited as you all are. I’d be willing to chance you guys back or help you with anything. goodluck!
@confusedsenior28 Interviews typically have little to no effect if they are positive. The only time they will have a great effect is if an interview was negative and the fault lay on the the interviewee.
Your expectations should always be low for a school with a sub 10% acceptance rate.
I asked my interviewer whether there were roaches in Penn dorms…
There absolutely are @Vanskelig
I did a summer program there my sophomore year for four weeks, and probably had about 20 roaches in my room total
I’d suffer through roaches just to go to Penn
