UPenn Recruited Athlete

Hello,

I am receiving "academic support" from the athletic department for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences at Penn.

Admissions has said that they will admit me under condition that I attend study hall my Freshman year. For recruited athletes in my sport receiving academic support, the admission rate has been 100% over the past few years.

My academics are-

2.9 GPA (raw)
35 ACT

The coach seems to think that I am "safe". For the first period of the year, I have mostly B's, with one grade that is borderline B/C (it is one of my AP classes).

If admissions has agreed to admit me with a 2.9 and the aforesaid conditions, is having one C on this last set of grades going to screw anything up?

What sort of grades can I earn for the rest of the year and still be safe? I am really worried.

Thanks!

PS: my transcript has quite a few C’s on it already, so all B’s with one C would be about par for the course.

I had a 3.4 gpa with 1290 SAT. Above average, but not stunning. I got into Notre Dame as a recruited athlete. I’ll let you decide how that compares to your own situation.

In any case, being recruited should be close to automatic admission or else they wouldnt have recruited you.

How did your grades change during the final term of your senior year? Do you think that my C will make any waves?

What about after admission- How much can I “relax” my grades?

This is a bumpp
