UPenn/Stanford/Columbia/Cal

Hey so I am just curious as to what my odds are and what colleges I should consider that I haven’t already.

GPA: 3.89 unweighted
Rank: 43 of 779 (But I continually go up; I recently moved so my rank is messed up, I should be low 30’s-25 by nov)
Courses:
Freshman: Honors alg 2, Honors Bio, Spanish 3, regular English/History
Soph: Honors Precal/trig, Honors Chem (highest math/science), AP Spanish, Honors English, reg history
Junior: AP Calc AB/BC, AP Physics 1, AP Psych, Honors history, AP english lang
Senior(planned): AP Statistics, AP English lit, AP Macro, AP US Gov, AP Envir Science

If it matters any, I finished AB with a 100 and have a 98 in BC so far.

SAT: 2310(750cr:760m:800w:11e) (One sitting)
SAT Bio M: 740 (took freshman year)
Planning on taking SAT Math II
Also I have yet to take an AP test so no info there (but from what I hear those don’t matter as much for admissions?)

Extra-Curriculars:
Rowing Sophomore and freshman year
Key Club
Math Honors Society (running for leadership)
Science Honors society
National Honors society
Gay-Straight Alliance (Foundeded it in a conservative Texas town oops)
Tutoring
Debate (Leadership)
I work Part-time (about 12 hours a week)

Also, I want to do Bioengineering/microbiology for a major

Please be gentle

Coming from a Stanford Student, you have a good chance, it just depends if you can distinguish yourself from other applicants. Additionally, raising your class rank would be a good idea

Reach for all of them

Strong chance for UPenn, but Columbia, Caltech and Stanford should be significantly harder…

I think by “Cal” he means Berkeley, not Caltech. Maybe he will clarify.

The SAT score makes you a strong candidate for all of them as long as you don’t let that GPA fall. That said, Stanford is still a reach for you simply because it is a reach for everyone. UPenn and Columbia are reaches too because ALL the Ivy League schools are reaches for EVERYONE. Cal Berkeley (if that is what you mean by “Cal”) is a high match, and you could still be denied there because it is tough to get into also, of course.

Any hook?
If not,

Stanford, Columbia: Very low chance
Penn: Low chance

UCB: Very good chance

Yeah cal berkeley not cal tech

Would moving from CT to TX before junior year/being gay in Texas/being diabetic be a hook?

Moving state is never a hook.
Nor is homosexuality.
You can write essays about your struggles that comes from being gay, though
