<p>First, I'd apply to UPenn for a physics PhD, but I am not asking for advice about what else I can do for UPenn to be reachable. (Let's face it, even at the PhD level UPenn is a reach for anyone) I think it is a good idea to visit and, if a professor in my area of interest is there when I will make my visit, all the better.</p>
<p>Since my parents are planning their respective vacations around a visit to UPenn, and, at this point, we decided to visit in August (inconvenient, I know) and to spend one day in Philadelphia as a result. However we will not be spending all day on campus. Are there good places to visit as well in Philadelphia, preferably not too far from the UPenn campus, that can fit within an one-night visit?</p>
<p>Because the next day will be spent visiting William and Mary, and then on to Virginia Beach...</p>
