(One teacher who is writing a rec. went to UPenn, I can't really predict my essay and recs, but I hope they'll be at least above average)

Thank you.

Oh, and by the way... ED

Might want to up that ACT from 32 to a 33/34 or try the SAT. You look like a well-rounded applicant, but your grades, ECs, and awards will be similar in nature to numerous other applicants to Wharton. Simply put, it's going to come down to your essays. Try and show genuine passion for Penn and your field of study. Excellent Recs will also serve as a major boost and could separate you from the pack.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, the 32 is pretty weak... look to get that up a bit.. Your ecs, grades, and etc. do look pretty solid though.

buy an act book to bring up your science score, otherwise you seem pretty good. you'll need better than above average recs though.

Well, I just read my end of year comments about 5 minutes ago, and if my two teachers write like that, I'd call the recs stellar. I just see most everyone else getting similar recs.

Also, two extra ECs I forgot; summer before freshman year, I took a Center for Talented Youth 3-week program at the University of Denver and took supposed college-level courses in Human Bio and Astronomy. Last summer, I took EPGY (Program for talented youth) C++ courses from Stanford through Johns Hopkins (online).

And it's really unlikely I'll be able to take the ACT again. Lucky me, I have an important training to go to next saturday, and the next ACT date after that, I'll be out of state and won't be able to take it. Then its too late for ED. It was my hope that science would be the least important (and math the most important for Wharton), but I completly understand that the composite is a big deal, and every score is looked at and considered.

I just checked my SAT II scores. I got a 790 on Math II, and a 730 on U.S. History. (Although I'm only writing down the Math II on my app. I just took the U.S. History in case I need to apply elsewhere. And I know the collegeboard sends all of them the schools anyway).

Anyone else?

Okay, I hate to bring up a dead topic, but I'm nervous like everyone else.

And an update on one of my activities: the Obama fellowship ended up being great. I traveled out East, put in 6 weeks, 60 hrs/wk, wrote an essay on it, and was the director of a county out there. (Virginia)... I was also the youngest fellow in the state, and the only county director that couldn't vote because of my age. I stressed this EC in my essay, and I think it's unique, but the more I think about it, everyone at Wharton is really unique. What do you guys think about it?

And I'm Vice Pres. of the non-profit club this year (we're on track to give around $10,000 this year)

sounds good

srry for the totally n00b question, but isn't wharton only for MBA?

you can apply for undergrad as well and get a Bachelor of Science in Economics

No y0itzr0. Their undergrad program is consistently ranked the #1 undergrad business school in the world.

Hey, so you're from Arizona, and I've heard we get brownie points (I'm sure I did). To be fair, my numbers were substantially higher than yours, but having been here a semester, I can assure you that the more people I meet, the more I know that numbers aren't the big factor that applicants think they are (people tried to tell me this over and over last year, I never believed them). I think if your essays are solid, you stand a fair chance of making it, especially because I think your Obama fellowship will be a draw. I may be biased because I also had political ec's but... lol good luck.

so you will apply to Wharton specifically, not UPenn? If applying ED, i apply to Wharton, not UPenn? (srry, a totally confused junior!) so this means that your major DOES affect your admissions chances?

When you apply to Penn, you pick a college within the University to apply to. There are four undergraduate schools you can apply to: Wharton (Business), Nursing, Engineering, or Arts & Sciences. Wharton is the hardest of the four, but they are all under Penn. So you apply to a specific college WITHIN Penn.

When/if you apply, there'll be a box you check at the top of the application which identifies which school you would like to be considered for.

(There are also programs that overlap between two of the schools).

The major within the school you're applying to (say bio compared to anthropology in the College) does not affect your admissions. The school you pick (College versus Wharton) will affect your admissions.
