UPitt BS/MD program

<p>I am currently a sophomore interested in going into the medical field. I was wondering if University of Pittsburgh had a BS/MD program? If so, is it any good? Are there any other good universities in Pennsyvlvania with this program? What would be my chances of being admitted into these programs?</p>

<p>My GPA for the freshman year was 4.6667/5.0, and 4.0 on the 4.0 scale.</p>

<p>My class rank for the freshman year was 6 out of 808. </p>

<p>For this marking period, i recently recieved a 5.0 GPA, once again a 4.0 on the 4.0 scale.</p>

<p>Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it!</p>

<p>i dont thing pitt has a bs/md prog, but u can be guaranteed into their medschool if u have the grades and stuff. i dunno how good it is though</p>

<p>Here are the requirements for the guaranteed admissions program (about halfway down the page.)
University</a> of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid</p>

<p>Here are the USNWR Medical school rankings for research and primary care. Pitt ranks 15th and 18th respectively.</p>

<p>thank you for the help!</p>

<p>sorry to bring up an old thread but that website says:</p>

<p>"High school credentials must include a grade point average of 4.0 or a class rank in the top 1 percent of the high school graduating class"</p>

<p>***? is this true?</p>

<p>It's hard.
* Indicate Pre-Medicine or Bioengineering on admissions application.
* To compete for the medical school guarantee, applicants must meet the initial eligibility requirements of earning the highest grade point average available in their high school in the context of a curriculum showing the greatest academic rigor possible and earning a minimum SAT I score of 1450 (or 33 ACT).
* Students meeting these criteria will be asked by the School of Medicine to submit additional information in support of their candidacy. Students selected on the basis of their submissions will subsequently be invited for an interview in the School of Medicine.
* The choice of final candidates is contingent upon this interview. Historically, an average of 10-15 students from the entering undergraduate class are chosen each year for the School of Medicine guarantee.
* Students offered the guarantee must complete an undergraduate degree at Pitt within four years, complete the prerequisite course work, maintain a science and quality point average of at least 3.75, and engage in extracurricular activities that provide greater knowledge of the science and practice of medicine. </p>

<p>I have the SAT score part, but not the GPA to apply.</p>

<p>sorry to bump this, but then, the requirements for this program definitely say that you need a 4.0 uw in a curriculum of AP/IB or similarly hard courses?</p>
