Upon the completion of application

Whatelse can applicants do after the completion of applications?

e.g. Sending more information, such as report card for the 8th semester?
Updated resume?
Weight lifting??

I am just wondering whatelse candidates can do until the selection.

Visit! Try to arrange a candidate visit if at all possible. You can schedule on the admissions website. Don't forget to take your parent.
On your visit the Admissions officer of the day will sit down with you and your parents and review your file - if you so desire.

The other things you mention - all good.
7th semester grades will be required. - there is a postcard in the application booklet. Senioritis - NOT Allowed!!
Certainly continue to update your file - if you become an officer of a club, revceive and award or acheivement - such as induction to NHS then let the admissions office know.
Keep in shape! Weight lifting yes - but don't forget running. At Beast you will be on your feet a lot!

Make sure your back-up school applications are in and you have applied for a ROTC scholarship.

One more thing - you WAIT! Yep - patience is a virtue.
Good Luck!

Senioritis. I think I had that starting Freshman year.

Mister Sinister:
No excuses.

If you did 3 years of baseball, and if you are positive you will be playing for a fourth year during spring, do we still put down a number "4" in the block on the candidate activities sheet?

^^^^^
On the Candidate Activies Record you need to project everything through your senior year.

yep - if there are any changes down the road be sure to notify them

Isn't your Candidate activities sheet done yet? ;)

I am scratching my head as to why anyone would not send in the application ASAP...at least the parts he/she can control. Since USMA does hard copies, you are at the mercy of the teachers and counselors to do their portion in a timely manner. The candidates need to get theirs in PDQ. The essays are tedious, but are not long so should not take weeks and weeks to get done. Some of the candidates have had their applications for months and are not done. Maybe because s felt they were watching him, he got everything in within a few weeks. When I hear of some not having theirs done yet, I wonder if maybe my s skipped something. We actually found the MOC apps much more labor intensive than the WP one!

I know this isn't about the "application process", and you should already know this, but while you're waiting to hear, and once you're accepted, I want to remind you to:

MAKE GOOD DECISIONS!!!

I know senior year and graduation are exciting times. Enjoy them. Just realize that you may have to make some decisions about what you should and shouldn't be involved in. There are major consequences to your actions now.

My daughter's guidance counselor gave her class this advice, "Don't do anything stupid. Colleges will and have withdrawn acceptances." I imagine West Point would be less forgiving than a regular college.

This is also the time to keep fit and healthy - any major change in medical status needs to be reported to DoDMERB, and nobody wants to start that process rolling again...

Run on hills.

That's all we have around here!

Mister Sinister, I think I have had Senioritis since sophmore year. Projected grades for 7th semester:
AP Physics-B
AP Calc- B? Maybe an A-?
Gym- A
Psychology- A
Newspaper- A
IB Stats- A

This semester I have some really light classes, but the Physics is killer and the Calc is a formidable class, too. Next semester I wont have a lunch, study hall, or gym like I have now, they will be replaced by CP Sociology, Creative Writing, and Modern Writers.

I'll be running Long-Distance Track again to stay in shape, of course.

You're really lucky to be taking AP Physics. I was trying to take either that or AP Chem, but JROTC conflicted with both those classes.

And about the app.. I have 2 parts still. The activities sheet and the essay. For some reason, I feel as if I need to keep holding them. I'm getting rid of those asap this week.

QUOTE:

^^^^^
On the Candidate Activies Record you need to project everything through your senior year

when you say "project" does that mean...anticipated activities are okay right? And...if something happened, we notify admissions telling them that we couldn't continue on with our fourth year? Just making sure because I have plenty of applications that have asked us to list anticipated activities senior year.

Also, anyone know when admissions closes its doors?

Mr. S,
My s took about a week with the essays, but the other pieces went back w/in 2 days. I wonder why you hesitate? Maybe you need to explore what is inside you keeping you back. Did you complete your online USNA package yet? That essay was killer, and s did take a few weeks on that one. Again, he did everything else immediately. Someone told him (whether correct or not, don't know) that the SA's time how long it takes you to complete the apps.

"Also, anyone know when admissions closes its doors?"

The official answer is: "Files not completed by the first Monday in March will be closed from further consideration."

However, since USMA works off a rolling admissions system anyone waiting until the deadline is making a big mistake. General advise is to return the completed application within 60 days. Serious candidates should have their applications completed by the end of November.

What's keeping me back? If you were to ask anyone of my teachers: they would say that I'm a perfectionist. Maybe I have a feeling that something isn't perfect, and I want to hold on to them to see what I can improve on and add on to. Last week, I talked to some of my teachers, and several of them told me to stop being that perfectionist that I am. Anyhow... these suckers are leaving by the 20th...

I understand that thinking with regard to essays...but candidate activities? You either did it or you didn't...it's pretty cut and dry. My son had to speculate on a few things, but he knew he could correct later. For example, he was fairly certain he would be elected team captain his senior year, so he wrote that...he knew if things went the other way he could correct. As my mom would say, Mr. S: it's time to pee or get off the pot!!
