Did any upperclassmen at duke go right to math 103 and do you feel this was the right decision for you?

Math 103 is not that bad. You don't really need to remember much integration techniques from basic calculus. From memory, the course was split into 3 major topics. (vectors, double / tripple integration + applications, green / stroke's theorem)

Except for the last part of the course, the material is not that bad in my opinion.

FYI, I got a 5 in BC Calculus.

nero, did you go right to math 103?

If you can, go right into math 103. I went right into 103 and can tell you that you really dont need much calc 2 background so just taking calc 2 over again will not really prepare you any better. Also, 32 is NOT easy and many people I knew who got 5s on the BC still struggled in 32. 103 may not be easy, but in my opinion going right into it will be much more beneficial especially if you need it for some requirement.

yes, I do need 103 for a requirement for biomedical engineering. Thanks for the advice. I don't get my BC score until late july, so do I just sign up assuming that I did indeed do well(i'm fairly confident that I did do well on the test)

Yeh you can always change your schedule if it turns out you didnt do well enough on the BC but if your confident just sign up for 103.

or, you can check your scores now via phone... they've been up since tuesday

seahorse, I'm aware I sound ignorant and apologize for this, but could you please tell me how to do that - thank you

if you're up for paying eight bucks, or have found a sponsor to pay it for you, the phone number is 1-888-308-0013. You'll either need your ap number or your social security number if you included it in your information.

oh, I have a better idea now... it seems that Duke has received our AP score reports already, so log on to ACES and look at your academic history. You won't know what your score was, but you can figure out which classes you have been given credit for.

where does it say which courses we have been given credit for? i can just see the total credits.. it says 3

If you go to Academics and Advisement Report, it's right there.

That's weird, it's not listing anything for me. I got 5s on all but one of my six exams from junior year, so I know I have credit for something.

damn, I cant believe I have so many AP credits at Duke --- 14 in all. Thats insane. They even recieved this year's AP scores already cuz I got credit for senior yr APs.

 I should have at least five credits (don't think I get anything for a 4 in French Lang), not including my APs this year. I know Duke had these scores, because it listed them when I did that pre-registration thing on ACES.

need to have an official score report sent for them to count...

Yes I know, I did that twice this year. I don't want to have to spend another $15.

yeah - i went striaght into math 103

I'd call them...bc I sent mine a month or two ago from last year, and they have them all listed perfectly.

hmm..it's weird that on my advisement report only Comp gov/pol and Enlgish came up....and gov/pol came up twice. What happened to all my sciences and calc and stuff I got 5s on? It's weird too beacause I should have 8 credits in all (which it does say on some other page), but my exams didn't show up on the report. anyone else have this problem?
