Can anyone tell me how UPS delivery works on campus? I would like to know how packages are handled with delivery to dorms. I know for a fact that they do not go to the ND mail distribution center on campus. And, after having slow mail delivery of a package around fall exams, I decided to give UPS a try. Can anyone tell me if they (UPS) just finds someone in the dorm to sign for it, or can they just leave the package? I'm just curious about the package delivery service to the dorms. Also, anyone else have any feelings one way or the other about UPS vs. regular mail package delivery to the ND campus?

Have used UPS all year---no problem. Got something in the mail from ND yesterday about mail---did you. I don't usually send anything important, just cookies or something like that.

UPS will bring the package to your door. Then, if you aren't there, will usually have a neighbor hold onto it. If not, they usually will either re-deliver or put it in the mailroom. It is pretty efficient, much better than campus mail which is SLOW. How slow? Just the other day I got a letter from a graduate school that they sent a month before! Luckily I haven't gotten any rejection letters from grad schools, but seriously, they may be sitting at the post office.

Thanks for your help everyone! Package was delivered on time just as promised by UPS. From now on, I will use UPS for package delivery. I have cautioned son, however, to check dorm mailbox regularly--even if he is not expecting anything.

I recommend UPS as well, when it's cheaper. My mom once over-nighted a book to me through the USPS...but because it was a "priority" shipment, instead of just bringing me the package, they sent me a postcard telling me I had to come and pick up my urgent parcel.

Always trust companies like UPS over the United States government...one wants to make a profit, one wants to adhere to red tape.

UPS is much more efficient than anything that has to go through campus mail. I still haven't gotten a package that my aunt sent me through the regular mail before Christmas. Also, when sending things, don't require a signature for pickup- they will end up in the post office, which is a looong walk away for most students.

There's a mail room in the dorm and I get my packages from it. It's a long walk up 20 or so steps, but I manage ok.

they deliver to your room or leave at a neighbor. no problems.
