Son is a junior interested in UPS. Would those of you who have been admitted post your gpa (specifying UW or W) and your SAT scores, so I can get an idea of where he stands?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Here's our sons:

uw3.16 w 3.3 I think. Grades effected adversely by medical problems in freshman and sophmore years which he addressed in a brief paragraph on the app. Junior year upward trend (3.5)and harder courseload jr and sr years.(3.5 + for AP's.(4 A's two B's and one C) AP's- Not offered until 11th grade:Psych, English, History, Stats. Honors_english 9,10 11 grades.
SAT took once last March. 700 Math 720 Written 740 CR
SAT II subject tests: 670 mathIIc before taking precal in senior year,
780 History, english lit 710
Essay was very good and probably helped, did visit school, interviewed on campus that went very well.

U.W. 3.9ish, W.4.2ish. SAT 1 took once 2110. SAT 2 660 and 730. Off-campus interview, no visit. Good ec's in areas of interest: creative writing/journalism and music.
Got trustee's scholarship ($8,000 yr).

oops, daughter corrected me on the stats above. SAT 1: 2120 SAT 2: 740

D accepted, 9-12 GPA uweighted 3.28, weighted GPA 3.51. Steady upward trend, best grades in 1st sem senior year. Attends very rigorous pvt high school. Honors courses: hon chem & AP US history in grade 10; hon English & hon history in grade 11; AP stat, AP art history, AP English, hon adv. Spanish in grade 12. Not the most rigorous path available at her school (!), but not the least. Strong in English, humanities. SAT I: M 580, CR 650, WR 700. (Didn't send SAT II since not requested, Lit 640, Span 560). Good ECs with depth and leadership, club and varsity swimmer. Probably very good recommendations. Met with UPS rep who visited her school, visited campus and had good interview. Disappointed that she may not have received any merit $$, but not sure if that's the case yet.

Thanks to each of you; your stats have been very helpful. Is there anyone else who wants to share stats for admitted students to UPS?

My d was accepted, GPA 3.7 unweighted, 4.0 weighted, 2150 SAT. Visited twice, interview. Lots of ecs. 3 APs junior year, 3 senior year. Trustee's scholarship ($8,000). She is excited!

My junior son is very interested in this school, but all of your stats, especially test scores, are much higher than his. He may have to re-think his choice. Thanks to all who have posted.

I was admitted a few days ago with Wyatt Trustee Scholarship ($9000/year). I'm also hoping that if I choose UPS I can get National Merit and CSF Money.

I have a 3.98 uw, 4.32 weighted. 34 ACT, I sent SAT IIs as well, 770 Math 2, 750 US History, and 680 Chemistry.
Last year I took the APUSH, AP Calc AB, and AP Chem tests and received 5's on each.

I don't think your son is necessarily out of the running. Note that 3 people on this page received the largest or near-largest scholarships awarded; essentially, he may be worthy of acceptance, just may not garner money.

I also applied to the Business Leadership Program.

Cyclistsmom: My son got Presidents Scholarship of $6000, renewable for 4 years, stats above

3.4 GPA (3.6 weighted) 1360 SAT--just found out yesterday, also got 8000$ Dean's scholarship, which, seeing that my grades aren't that fantastic, makes me think that UPS places a lot of emphasis on SAT scores.

Hope this helps!

Oops, correction--trustee sch.

I have to agree about the SAT scores being more important to them. SCU didn't offer any merit $$, at least so far.

For cyclistmom, I would still encourage your son to apply. My son was accepted to UPS with somewhat lower scores (particularly his verbal SAT score) than some of the previous posters. However, he took the hardest courseload available to him and is a member of an under-represented minority group. He has some extenuating circumstances that explain his lower verbal score (he immigrated to the US five years ago barely speaking any English, which is his third language).

If you don't need to worry about comparing financial aid packages your son may want to apply Early Decision, since I think ED applicants have a higher acceptance rate.

I also encourage your son to apply- my daughter was admitted last year w/mid 500 SATs and a 3.6-7 gpa. She plays an instrument and came for an audition-received a small scholarship for that but did not apply for financial aid. Maybe that helped- also from AZ so maybe needed more geographical representation? She ended up not going but it was a very close call-liked it quite a bit. I think it helps to visit the campus if at all possible- then you have shown serious interest. Actually she visited twice-

Thanks to all who have posted and PMed me. I appreciate all the information and encouragement. My son just sent an email to UPS to see about a spring visit and hopefully take a lesson with the music teacher in his area. It is sometimes very intimidating to post on this board. I am so impressed by all the very talented students! Thanks again.
