Upward trend in grades?

Here’s my grades in sophomore year,

English II: 91 (A)
Bible History: 97 (A)
AP Calc AB: 99 (A)
AP Chem: 100 (A)
French I: 99 (A)
Chorale: 100 (A)
Health: 99 (A)

Here’s my grades this junior year,

English III: 92 (A)
US History: 87 (B)
AP Calc BC: 100 (A)
AP Physics-Mechanics: 98 (A)
French II: 97 (A)
AP Music Theory: 96 (A)
Chorale Honors: 100 (A)

CLEARLY, I DON’T HAVE THE UPWARD TREND. I mean, I tried really hard in both years, and I did involve in more ECs in my junior year - so that might also be a factor. How would this affect the college admission tho? Would this give the colleges the impression that I can’t really focus both on ECs and academics at the same time?

PLUS I’m Chinese so English is my second language; French is my third.

What exactly is your concern here? The fact that you have a single B? This transcript looks excellent.

my college counselor says colleges want to see an upward trend - but my average grade is going down (from 97 to 95)

Uh, no. Colleges like to see an upward trend if you start off in the tank (very low grades). Consistently high grades (which you pretty much have) are best.

Well, you might have a chance at top schools if your first semester average next year is at least 104.

@usualhopeful lol thx for that information… I think I’ll be fine with my mediocre grades

Can’t go much higher than straight A’s. :stuck_out_tongue: Nobody can perform perfectly forever.
