Okay... I applied to UCLA as Design Arts major, and they need to see a portfolio by a certain date. I thought about more deeply after I applied, and I now want to switch my major to like International Relations or Philosophy.

Can I do that?...

probably not at this point. you can call the admissions office to check. FYL

If you leave your major on your application as design, you will most likely be rejected because your admissions to UCLA is forwarded to the design school committee, and if you’re not submitting a portfolio they have nothing to judge you by and will reject you overall for UCLA.

You have to email or call ucla to have them switch your major ASAP into one that is not in the design/arts/theater/film departments. If you’re undecided pick undecided, or philosophy, you can change your major(within the same school) after you get there. HOwever you will not be able to switch into other colleges/schools within UCLA once you’re accepted to CLAS which is what philosophy and international relations is under.

Okay. I just checked, and they said I could change my major at this point. Thanks for you guys’ help though :)
