URGENT: Applied to wrong school at Cornell; can i change?

Hey guys,
So i submitted my Cornell application early January and I just figured out recently that I applied to the wrong school at Cornell. I applied to AEM Business when I should have applied to SHA global hospitality. All my extracurriculars seem to align with SHA so i know that my application would be a better fit for SHA. The problem is that it is late in the process already and I’m not sure if the admission office will let me switch. The question is do you guys think that I could still switch cornell schools at this time?

Any perspectives on this issue is greatly appreciated

Call the admissions office first thing tomorrow and ask them if you can switch. Good luck.

Also, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t switch it now.

You can always switch in once you get to Cornell. You have a pretty good reason behind it.

I wouldn’t switch now. It is too risky. Your wrote your essay for AEM not for SHA. It could be viewed you are switching to gain admission.
Yes, if you should get admitted to AEM you can always switch to SHA. Unfortunately AEM has a very low admission rate after taking out legacies and athletes.

I called one of cornell’s admissions officers and she said that " she will inform SHA of my interest and if SHA is interested they may ask for additional information".

So the question is which school am i being considered for? CALS (one i initially applied to) or SHA? Would i be considered for both?

Please help!!! It is soo confusing

Why didn’t you ask the adcom when you were on the phone with her? We don’t know what transpired between you and her, not sure why we would know.

dude you applied for AEM with the intention of going into AEM based off your previous posts. By calling them and asking them about switching way too late in the game, I think it makes it way worse if your essay is not tailored to HADM which I can assume it’s not (unless you so happen to have written about hospitality but idk about that…). it means you didn’t do your research and now you potentially just lowered your chances at AEM and Cornell Overall…
