!!!URGENT!!! College Rejection After Approval

2-3 months ago my brother was accepted into Berkeley, but 2 days ago he received an e-mail saying that his acceptance might be canceled due to an F he received in an EXTRA COLLEGE COURSE.

Basically what happened is that while in High School he took a non-mandatory class at a city college and teacher turned out to be more or less not up to par. Most of the students ended up failing the class. This happened after we received Berkeley's acceptance message. The class he took however was not a necessary A-G class, and his HS counselor said the classes that only mattered were the A-G classes and not the extra college class that he took during the spring semester. My brother is literally a straight A student and achieved that in his spring semester with his HS classes. He has next to perfect attendance and participated in sports during the spring semester every year. He has currently sent in his appeal with a very detailed explanation of what happened.

Do any of you have any other ideas that could be used to approach this problem so that he could be re-accepted into the school?

I don't understand why you would send that transcript from that optional, extra-curricular college course to Berkeley in the first place if he wasn't doing well. But I think he should be fine--- at most they'll probably put him on academic probation.

Apparently it was required to send the grade of the class in as well.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in my mind.

He should have his guidance counselor send a letter of explanation or he should do so if the guidance counselor can't be reached. If it were not an issue of concern, Berkeley would not have sent the email.
