Urgent...Counselor and Teacher Recommendation

Hello all! I have a very important question that I have not been able to get a straight forward answer from...My counselor taught me in an academic subject as well, so would his recommendation be considered as a teacher recommendation? I asked the NYU Poly undergraduate's office and they told me that two recommendations is all i need..they didn't specify...I really need to know this because I really need to know if I need to go grab another recommendation from another teacher.

Thank you for your time!

most likely it would be considered a counselor rec only, because he is the person advising you in your college admissions.

I see, anybody else have an opinion?

If he is currently your counselor, then I believe it would be considered a counselor rec even if he’s taught you

Ok, but on the application for NYU Poly, it doesn’t state that I NEED a counselor recommendation. IT just states that I need two letters of recommendation…

i agree with the guys before me, he’ll be a counselor when he recommends you.

And anyways, get another teacher to do one for you, if you send two good recommendations, it shows that the good opinion about you is not specific to one person… Get another teacher to recommend you too.

I would get another teacher rec. Also, i would ask a teacher in a subject different than the one taught by the counselor.

I worked for Admissions at NYU-Poly as the receptionist, so I answered these q’s. lol. For a fact: any recommendations. One from a teacher, 2bsure, and the other could be from a coach or an employer/mentor/counselor…this is mostly applicable to non-traditional students. Basically, based on your own personal discretion, select the best combination of recs to represent & sell yourself :)
