I have problem. I go to Japan school, apply to boarding school for 10th grade and I need many money to attend. I am accept to two school I apply but wait list for financial aid. Bad thing is, I think I make mistake when I last email admissions office, so I am no chance of receive money.

When student wait list, the school want "update" on the happening on us. So, I send email last week, and I now realize what I say give them idea I have many money.

I say my plan to study abroad in France for two months in summer. Here, the programs cost 4,000+ American dollar and I really can't pay many money. My school and friends give me money, and I pay what little I can.

I am scare that admission office think I can pay many money for boarding school. It is loss if I can't go to America school next year because of this. What can I do? I don't think they believe I say friends pay.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry bad English.

I wouldn't stress about it personally because these schools realize that there are circumstances for everything.
If you're really concerned, maybe e-mail the school explaining that you are getting help to pay for the program.
Good luck!

I might write a letter to the school -- as an update -- informing them of the scholarship that you received for the summer program and how honored you are to receive that kind of support. You can tell them that you would feel just as honored and committed to make your benefactors proud if the BS gives you financial aid. This would be one way to set the record straight about how that summer program is being financed.

Another reason to get back in touch with the school is to ask them for additional time to send in your decision. If you tell them that they remain your top choice and that you only need the time to see if they find some additional aid, then they have a good reason to give you extra time. Plus, they are most likely to find new financial aid after the other students return their decisions. If they don't give you extra time, they are effectively guaranteeing that you will decline their offer of admission. If they do give you extra time, they keep open the possibility that you will accept. Unless they are overenrolled as of April 10, they will hopefully give you some extra time.

Good luck!

Hi Please. I am a mother from Japan. D'yer Maker gives good advice. Try what he suggests.

Most applicants from Japan I've seen on this board have been from international schools. You are the first person I came across applying from a Japanese school. Do you go to a kouritsu, shiritsu or kokuritsu school? Which todoufu-ken are you from? How did you select the schools to which you applied? Maybe you had an advisor who helped you apply? Have you asked that person for advice regarding financial aid?

Best of luck!

I go to kokuritsu school. I am from Tokyo. I have neighbor from America and she help. She not know how to get more financial aid so I ask here.

Is there other way to get money?

Thank you for advice!!!!!!!!!!

There are loans your parents can apply for. Which schools were you accepted by?

You might look into scholarships provided by organizations in Japan that promote international understanding. I have no idea if there are scholarships available for high school student but you could try your local Rotary Club, for example.
