I’m an out of state student looking to transfer to UC Berkeley as a junior in about a year, but I have literally no idea where to begin. I’m a comp sci and statistics major, but I don’t understand how coursework articulations work or which of my classes will satisfy Berkeley’s own GE requirements. I’ve found little help elsewhere and I’m extremely confused about the process of out of state transfers. I just want to know who I can speak to about which of my classes will articulate in Berkeley so I don’t start at square one there.
Does assist.org work for out of state transfers? That’s the one we use to see which courses articulate to the courses required at the school we’re trying to go to. Also, contact admissions at UCB to clarify things, or for more resources
If your on a quarterly system use lake tahoe CC as your community college in assist and go off of those classes.
Also make sure that your English classes will transfer over; I can’t remember where it is but there is a list of past out of state articulations for the two required English classes, if your class is not listed there you can use the contact information on that page to have someone in the UC system evaluate the course. These English classes are extremely important for admissions make sure they are listed.
The required courses to transfer are likely in extreme excess of what you would need to transfer to a local university. I applied this year for mechanical engineering at UCLA and Berkeley and ended up taking an extra 35 credits over what I would need to transfer to a local college to have a shot at the UC system. If your heart is set on UC then you may end up tacking on a extra couple of quarters at your CC.
