So I'm applying for transfer to UCB (and 3 other UC schools, but UCB is my top choice). However, I realized I made a horrible mistake... I never made sure to check if my credits will transfer for the gen ed requirements. So basically my academic advisor at my 4 yr university got quite upset when I explained I wanted to transfer and he told me a lot of reasons to not, which made me kind of doubt myself. So I put my application on hold. A few weeks later I decided to continue with the application because its a dream of mine to go to UCB. I was reading on UCB transfer admissions and I read about transferring credits, which is when I realized my mistake. I filled in that section on the application to ask about better, but I completely overlooked that I didn't double check when I sent in my application. On the UCB website it said they would not talk about credit transfer over the phone, but I live in the midwest anyways and wouldn't have been able to fly down because of school, work, family issues, etc. What should I do now? I really am just lost, especially since the admissions office isn't open for awhile because of the holiday...

Sorry for that long explanation! I ramble when I'm nervous.

I’m not sure exactly what the problem is?

You should have listed all the coursework you’ve taken, whether you think it’s transferable or not. For now, assume that GE classes will transfer/articulate. Classes in your major they’ll be more picky about and you may have to retake some of those, but if you think your past humanities classes will fill the GE requirements you should be okay. If you didn’t list all your past coursework, you should correct it on the app or contact admissions directly.

You can also try calling/emailing them to ask. If they say they cannot answer your questions, maybe ask them who you should contact instead. Also, keep your old syllabuses if you can, you may need them for determining course equivalency after you transfer.

Thanks! I just thought I was supposed to make sure the credits transfer before I sent in my app?
http://www.assist.org will show you transfer credit if you are coming from a California community college. However, if you are coming from some other school, you will have to get your transfer credit evaluated afterward. You can make educated guesses by comparing course descriptions and syllabi of your current school’s courses with those at your transfer target schools.
Wow, as an OOS can you afford $55K per year?
I get good financial aid… anyways I didn’t want to not apply and never know if I made it or not
