Im a bit confused my teacher who is making my letter of reccomendation told me that he does not need to give me the letter but that he has to wait until after I applied. He said that after I applied the college would send him an e-mail with a format to type the letter of reccomendation.

Is this correct? I thought I had to send everything together including the letters of reccomendation. help plz.

Check with each college/university that you are applying to. Some have special forms that they want the teachers to fill out. Others just want a letter. Some want everything sent in one package. Others want the teachers to mail (or email) the letter separately.

Your teacher does need to send his letter at about the same time that you send your application. If it doesn’t arrive in time, your application might never be read at all.

Within the US, many high schools often have their own way of doing things regardless of what universities/colleges would prefer. Because of that, admissions offices have to be able to deal with materials that come in many different ways - almost every school should be able to accept your teacher’s recommendation regardless of when it comes in relation to the rest of your application. If your teacher feels that he cannot write the letter without the school’s form, then go to the school’s website and find the form for him.
