Urgent SAT Subject test problems!

Well, here is my situation. I wasn't able to obtain a Subject test fee waiver from my school in time for the December SAT date, and so I missed the deadline (the woman in charge of it is on medical leave and no one could find them..).

This presents a problem because I have not taken them at all. I really would like to apply to Tufts. However, when I called admissions, I was told that December would be the last time to take those tests in time for regular admission. Is this true? Should I try again or give up on Tufts because of some stupid tests? :[

Taking the ACT is not an option. I even asked if they accepted anything in lieu of the Subject tests, such as an essay I have written for English in place of a Literature test, or a DBQ essay in lieu of U.S History. I was told they did not...

Also, if I manage to take the Subject tests in Januray, when I hit "send scores" does it send ALL my scores, meaning subject AND the Sat ones I took in November? Or do I have to send the SAT scores for November now [uh, today is the last day to make any changes I think..].

No, I did not procrastinate taking the Subject tests. I just had a lot of personal family problems these past months. I was lucky to manage to retake the SAT at the beginning of this month..

Anyone know what I should do?

I don't understand why you don't sign up for the December SAT? You still can (for one day, they extended the deadline), but you have to pay a late fee. Is the late fee the issue? I would say the $21.50 late fee is well worth it in your case.

No way to pay it. My mum has no credit card or checking account x.x'

Call Tufts and tell them exactly this. If they're not heartless SOB's--and I hope they're not--they'll help you out.

Why is the ACT not an option? Can you get a teacher, relative or a friend to pay the fees for you using their credit or debit card and you pay them back over a period of time...a loan? Just an idea, I know it's a difficult situation.

I would also call the Collegeboard directly to see if they can waive the fees for you, it is worth a try and I think they are a generous organization. I think they are open until 8AM to 9PM eastern time, 866-756-7346 toll free number, you have nothing to loose.

if you manage to get the cash to pay for the test but are unable to pay because of a lack of a credit card what you can do is purchase an american express gift card with the cash and use the card (it can be used just like a credit card with a balance of however much you put on it) to pay for the test online or over the phone. Go to <a href="http://www143.americanexpress.com/tcintl/feefreelocator/request?request_type=SellerLocation&product=G%5B/url%5D">http://www143.americanexpress.com/tcintl/feefreelocator/request?request_type=SellerLocation&product=G</a>
it's the link for the part of the american express website where they have a locator tool to find where you can buy the "gift card" at (they also have gift checks, which I assume work in lieu of checks) I've had an american express gift card before and it worked exactly the same as credit cards for purchasing items on the internet, so it should work. Odds are there's a location near you that sells them (the website came up with 42 locations within 20 miles of me) since they sell them at banks, eckerd's, cvs's, different pharmacies, staples, and other places.
Visa offers the same type of thing. Their location website is <a href="http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/giftcard/jsp/index.jsp?origin=personal%5B/url%5D">http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/giftcard/jsp/index.jsp?origin=personal</a>
I've never had one from them before so I can't vouch for it, but I'm sure it would work.
If you choose to purchase either of them just make sure that the collegeboard accepts american express or visa (I know some places dont accept american express, but they'll tell you over the phone.)
I hope this helps.

I tried College Board and the rep told me that they themselves do not give out fee waivers at all. I may try the American express card if I have nothing else left. Thanks for the help guys! I hope my high school will get some more fee waivers in before we go on the Xmas break and before the Jan test deadline.
