Okay, so I'd like to apply to Tufts as a Cognitive and Brain Sciences major, but I never took a math subject test, which Tufts asks for if applying to a math or natural sciences major. Would it be very detrimental to my application if I submit a chemistry and literature test instead?

see if you can still take a math test in january.

See it would kind of be pointless since I’d have no time to study I wouldn’t want to submit a poor score. There’s really nothing else I can do as far as testing, I’m done.

Hmm… I guess it just depends on how strict they are about that request. Try to contact admissions for advice.

Schools accept scores past deadlines. Many people submit a better test score after they apply (e.g., they took a test in January, after they applied, and send that score if they think it helps). I am sure sending a new test wouldn’t hurt. I also don’t think they would be so strict on this point.

You can submit your ACT instead if you’ve taken it. Also, it says we RECOMMEND the submission of, so I’m sure if you have 1 of the two subject test requirements at least it shouldn’t make a significant difference. Especially since Cognitive and Brain Sciences isn’t one of the “hard” sciences like chemistry or physics. If you want to be safe, you can take Math II in January but I doubt it would make a huge difference if it’s only recommended. I also think that a poor Math II score would hurt you more than not having one.

Thanks for all the advice, I’ll definitely call them and/or SEE if I can take the test in January MAYBE. And I haven’t taken the ACT. /:
